rjung, drag your one trick ass in here.

Yeah, but he makes GREAT cheese-steaks. And your theory is kind of goofy, as well as assuming the kind of longterm planning our government isn’t very good at.

It’s all true, DesertGeezer. All of it, except for a few things. It’s interesting that I am called mindless, especially by a shill for the DNC like rjung, given that I have been persuaded to change my mind on numerous topics, compared to rjung who has remained steadfast in his monotonous party line drivel. Flag-waving? Absolutely. I’d prefer to wave my country’s flag, given what my country has done for me, the least I can do is give something back. As for the steroid swilling, that would cause me to fail a drug test, so I think it’s safe to say that I don’t do that. Thick-necked? Only if 15 1/2 inches circumference is thick-necked. Jingoistic? Well, yeah. I’ll buy that. Zombie? Again, coming from Clinton Apologist Number 1, who is completely willing to admit any sort of scumminess on his boy’s behalf, that charge is a bit of a stretch.

So, upon further review, it appears that he’s pretty far off the mark. What a surprise, it’s rjung. I have yet to see him get anywhere NEAR the mark.

Well, no, that’s not fair. His Transformers page on his website is pretty cool. Beyond that, though, I’ve yet to see a single original thought from him. Just the standard party propaganda. So sad, so terribly sad.

Uh, yes it is. That is, anywhere but here. That this type of crackpot bullshit is being (admittedly half-heartedly) defended speaks volumns about the makeup of these boards.

carry on

Pardon me but that is bullshit. You are not waving my flag and I am an American. You probably think that because you are waving the conservative flag or the Bush flag or the republican flag that you are waving the American flag, but it ain’t so.

If only I were still a Bush fan, or a Republican, county. I’m not. I’m actually an independent who will not vote for Bush in 2004. Conservative? I plead guilty to that, although I’m more centric than anything else anymore.

So, you tell me, sir. Why specifically am I unworthy to wave the flag of the United States of America. You called bullshit, so elaborate.

I posted in haste, in retrospect, I apologize. You certainly have as much right to wave the American flag as I.

Airman:
Since you have broadcast in many threads that you won’t vote for Bush in '04, why do you care if the Bush-bashers on this board have another circle jerk?

The way I look at it, we’re going to have another 5 more years to endure the Bush-bashing, so you might as well sit back and enjoy the show. No need not to call a spade a spade when the bashing gets going, but it ain’t going away for a long time to come.

I’ll second THAT.

rjung, really if you think AIRMAN is a raving loon, then I hope you never meet up with someone who really is a “mindless flag-waving steroid-swilling thick-necked jingoistic zombie.”
I may not agree with him all the time, but really, Airman is good people. You need to seriously chill.

In fairness to rjung, I think we should keep in mind that he is the “pitee” (don’t you think?)

rjung’s theory. Not Airman’s interpretation and expansion thereof. There’s a difference, see? Or do you?

And I get really fucking tired of the comments about the makeup of the board. People get to speak their piece here, no matter what the piece is. All spectrums are well represented by reasonable people, by loonies, and by everything in between.

BTW the idea that the US misled Iraq vis a vis the reaction to Kuwait is quite common among Arabic expats I have talked to. I am thinking specifically right now of some fairly well educated Lebanese gentlemen I worked for at the time of the '91 hostilities so the story has been out there since day one.

So the diabolical 12 year plan bit is a recent addition made to obscure the plausibility of what was originally a theory about a failed short term Bush I scheme to grab Iraq in the first gulf war?

Of course! Why else do you think the Supreme Court had to steal the election from Gore? Man, you are stoooopid!!

That’ll teach me to post while Mom is tying my shoes!

-This post really needs an “embarassed” smiley, but I’ll be damned if I’ll put one of those in the same sentence as my Mom. People could get ideas!

This pisses me off.

Quoth the dumbass,
“Airman Doors, thank you for not being the first military person I ever met in my life. I’m sure that if my first exposure to a military serviceman was you, I’d be convinced they were all mindless flag-waving steroid-swilling thick-necked jingoistic zombies.”

First off, ADUSAF does not need my defense, he is quite capable of stating and defending his own opinions.

I am here to tell you ADUSAF is not the voice of the armed services. His opinions are his own.

Just ask him, Im sure he would confide that thereare plenty of thick necked bastards in the military, and he’s in the fucking Airforce for christsakes. Waddaya think? for every ADUSAF theres ten Marines who would call him a pussy.

I am just assuming you have never served.

Split vote for me. I like 'em both. I agree with rjung on most political points, but I admire Airman Doors for his personal integrity in reconsidering his positions.

Neither of you deserves what has been said here.

Agree. And you are not helping his case.

Zoe,

Why not?

Is ADUSAF trying to state that his is the majority opinion among his fellow service members?

Batch processing several replies…

I refuse to change my name to anything as doofy as “Rodimus.”

To be entirely honest, I don’t really believe it either – I merely raised the possibility in the post linked in the OP because I wanted to solicit opinions as to whether the other Dopers thought it was feasible or not. In fact, if you check my next post in the selfsame thread, I made the same disclaimer there as well.

I can only imagine that Doors jumped on my case because he’s predisposed to interpret everything I write as a Reeder-esque rant, and he wanted to play “gotcha” or something. I don’t know why he feels a need to play along as my shadow; maybe it’s some deep-seated psychological problem of his. After all, anyone with a handle as self-aggrandizing as Airman Doors, USAF probably has a serious self-esteem issue to begin with.

Nah, compared to the loonies I’ve dealt with, he’s strictly amateur hour. But it does seem to me I’ve got a special place in his crosshairs – maybe it’s my boyish good looks or something.

Just remember, he started this.

Yeah, but that’s because the Marines are the guys who are actually down on the ground, sticking their asses on the line and getting shit done, instead of taking it easy dropping bombs from 35,000 feet.

Directly? No. But I’ve spent most of my entire adult life designing weapons and battlefield systems to keep folks like Doors alive out there, so I know what kind of issues are involved. It wouldn’t surprise me if Airman Doors has used at least one radio, weapon, or C3I system in his career that I’ve had a hand in somewhere…

Hey, there I was, minding my own business, just cruisin’ the BBQ Pit for some button-down fun…
Just to reiterate, so my point isn’t lost among all the smilies and one-liners – I don’t have any major hard-on for Airman Doors one way or another. I’m sure he’s a nice guy in real life, even though his political posts to the SDMB are only two steps shy of the mind-numbing stupidity one usually gets from folks like Brutus. Seems like Doors has a psuedo-obsession with me for some reason – maybe he needs more attention from Ms Robyn? – but as far as I’m concerned, that’s an issue between him and his shrink.

Or, to paraphrase from Gag Halfrunt,Airman Doors? Eh, Doors’ just zis guy, you know?”

And just out of curiosity rjung, Who was the first service “member” you had contact with? Was he a gentle sort? Or maybe just of an intellecual bent? Army? Navy? Airforce ?Marines?

Enquiring minds want to know.
