I’m not saying it would have garnered an invitation to the White House and all that, or that they expected that level of attention. I do think they thought it might get some juice on Twitter or Daily Kos, and maybe if they made enough of a stink about it, get the local TV news or newspaper to come out and talk to them again if it was a slow news day.

Did the media report that the teacher didn’t see faulty wiring? Or a hazardous condition? Or a dangerous device? Wasn’t the media concentrating their efforts claiming there were claims of a bomb?
Have the media reported that Ahmed’s incarceration WASN’T due to his intimate relationship with the school mascot (a striped ocelot named Frank) ? We don’t know and it’s exceedingly unlikely, therefore we must assume it to be true barring direct evidence to the contrary.
