Now this I just don’t get. I understand moving quite a distance to get away from some bigots, but Qatar?? Syria seems nicer than that place right about now.
You must have it mixed up with some other place, perhaps Yemen. Qatar is peaceful and rich. The soccer World Cup will be held there in 2022.
And move to a country where the kid can be legally arrested, imprisoned and/or flogged based on his religion, should he not live up to its precepts. Bon voyage.
Not only did a tech high school give the kid a full scholarship but six American universities, including Texas A&M, have programs in one large complex just outside the capital.
I’m not being coy, you’re just being obtuse.
Here’s what I quoted from the WaPo, but this time I’ll paste the full sentence:
I thought it would be clear to anyone who has been following this thread what a multitude of things are wrong with this sentence, journalistically speaking, but okay–spelling it out:
As Ahmed’s defenders have said repeatedly, there’s no evidence no one actually ever thought it was a bomb. So this was not “discovered”; furthermore, if he was going to be charged it was going to be with making a *fake *bomb, so the assertion here is nonsensical.
It was “a digital clock the young innovator built himself”? Well, the first part is true: it was a digital clock. But it’s clear by now he did not build it himself, meaning there’s little support for the “innovator” tag. I have been arguing all along that one of my main beefs with this story is the misrepresentation of Ahmed as a young tech genius who made a clock from scratch. You and/or your posse have pooh-poohed this, either denying that Ahmed was ever repped as such, or maybe hinting that okay, very early he might have been, but that the clearer picture was quickly presented and now everyone knows he’s not some inventing prodigy. But this sentence proves that in the very highest echelon of the media, he is still totally being misrepresented as one.
That’s a completely fucked up thing to say. You should be ashamed of yourself. What is wrong with you?
The dipshit openly met with a known terrorist leader. How this surprises anyone is beyond me.
In 5 years he’ll be on Al Jazeera in a full beard chanting death to America. Of course the liberals will blame it on white conservative racism, something something Bush and then make a movie based on his heroic ability to invent clocks under an oppressive racist school regime run by Christian Nazis.
Fuck that, I hope he enjoys living in a society where his mom and his sister run the risk of getting stoned to death if they show too much flesh…
So you’re backing away from “I hope he dies LOL?” Coward.
Uh, your hero is fleeing the country and I’m the coward?
k
Fine, you’re just an asshole.
Cite for that please, you lying troll.
Cite for that please, you lying troll.
No cite needed there, thanks.
Tell us again how much you want the kid dead.
.
Only because you are looking for reasons. The word “bomb” is in scare quotes, meaning it’s not a real bomb. And as we’ve said thousands of times the he did in fact make a clock. Putting the clock in a different case is still making a clock. And seeing as he has a history of inventing things, he is an innovator.
It’s a simplification, sure. It’s more complicated than that line would make it seem. But it’s not inaccurate.
He’s a troll. He hasn’t posted any non-trolling posts as long as he’s been here. I’m not entirely sure why he’s not been banned.
Which is why I am more angry with you. You may not be saying things that are as bad as wanting the people killed, but you genuinely seem to believe what you are saying. You are delighted that the Mohameds are leaving the country. You hold on to conspiracy theories and see every little thing as confirmation of them (as iiandyiiii* said.)
Yes, maybe at first you were just doubting the story a bit. But you’ve used that to go further and further. Now you’re sure that they are running away to avoid answering questions. You’re sure they did this all for money. You went from thinking the kid may have been being a bit mischievous to thinking his father put him up to a form of terrorism.
canned mayhem is a troll–someone who likes pissing people off. And that’s bad. But you are someone saying horrible things but think you have the moral high ground. That’s worse.
No the fuck it isn’t. All he did was take an existing clock and put a new “skin” on it. If I repaint my car did I make a car? No I fucking did not.
I agree. But if you make an art car is it okay for the police to pull you over, say, “I think you made that to look like a car bomb,” impound it and arrest you?
That depends on what color you are and what religion you belong to.
If you’re a brown Muslim then you invented the car and you deserve a sweet gofundme account that nets you all kinds of new shiny toys.
If you’re a white Christian then you’re a piece of shit nobody who’s flaunting your privilege.
Taking apart something and putting it back together is not as easy as that. Try taking apart a watch without having some springs or gears left over when you’re done rebuilding it ;).
Beyond that the simple impulse to take a clock apart just to look at what makes it tick is not exactly common, especially among 14-year olds. The internet’s supply of pr0n isn’t going to surreptitiously watch itself, you know.
Actually, this is one of a dozen or so scenarios by which cybersentience is likely to spontaneously occur. (Oddly, many of the other also involve pornography. But it’s all niche stuff.)
I, for one, welcome our prospective etheroverlords.
If things were different, things would be different. Did you take the car into a school and plug it into 120vac? Were you told by your teacher NOT to take your car out of your briefcase while inside the school?
It all comes down to the Texans not understanding what the damn furriner was sayin’.
The kid said “clock.” The Texans heard “Glock,” so they arrested him.
How is that relevant to whether he should be arrested? Sounds like you just want to find some reason to rag on him, since he didn’t really do anything wrong, because Obama.
Yeah, but you still got a sweet ride. Shake it off, dude.
