His ticket should jointly come out of the Irving School and Police budgets, specifically out of the salaries of everyone who didn’t have the intelligence or courage to stop this trainwreck. Scale the portion they pay according to their respective pay rates. So the police chief and principal who are defending this as the right thing to have done take the biggest hits. At some point someone should have stepped up and said “Mistakes were made, this stops here.” The higher up on the chain you are the more responsibility you have to stop a trainwreck instead of continuing it.
It’s similar to what happened a year or so ago when the first case of Ebola was in Dallas. The city/county were so paralyzed with fear they quarantined the family of Thomas Erik Duncan in their home and they had no food or other basic necessities. The apartment had not been decontaminated and they were not being allowed contact with people who wanted to help them. It took a man of courage, County Judge Clay Jenkins, to break the lines of fear and rescue them. He literally walked into the apartment in his street clothes and took the family of Mr. Duncan out with him, and drove them, in his own vehicle, to a new apartment so health workers could monitor them and decontaminate the old apartment. He did what no one else was willing to do, because the people in that apartment deserved relief from those conditions.
What this case needed was someone with a fraction of the courage of Mr. Jenkins to say “guys, this isn’t a bomb or even a hoax of one and if you’re going to put this young man in cuffs you’ll have to put me in them too.” That person should have been the principal, or the counselor, or the first officer on the scene, but it should have been way below the chief of police or the school superintendent, who still apparently haven’t had the courage to admit their mistakes, and instead are trying to spin this as a reasonable reaction to the situation.
Texas…where racist white conservatives can follow the military around with automatic weapons, but no way in hell can a Muslim kid bring an invention to school.
Which as I read it means we can bust you for anything we want because we feel like it.
Real marijuana is covered under a separate policy of drugs. “Synthetic Marijuana” presumably has to be handled separately because some students might try to argue that they are not technically drugs but are instead just incense or some such rot.
These kinds of stupid events occur because Irving is more diverse than many cities, even ones held up as examples of multiculturalism and tolerance. There were cities in the North which weren’t the sites of race riots in black ghettos. They didn’t even HAVE black ghettos! Was that because they were color-blind and tolerant? No, it often meant they were Sundown Towns and didn’t have inter-racial friction because they didn’t even have inter-racial populations.
That having been said, I’m on record as saying the school and certainly the police, handled this in an unacceptable way. I’m also going to be writing the school and city about this. But racially charged events happen more often in more integrated areas, and as someone who likes the racial diversity of my community I’m willing to accept some isolated incidents like this as long as we learn from them and make it a better place in the future.
The nasty side of me wants this to be a question during the Republican debate tonight: “Would you, like President Obama, invite Ahmed Mohammed to visit the White House?”
Would love to see the side-steps and hem-haws on that. But probably not.
If Muslims are upset over people overreacting to bomb-like things in their possession, they can stop blowing themselves up every five minutes. But since the love and admiration that liberals shower them with is directly related to how many innocent victims they kill, why would they stop?
You know, as long as you keep using multisyllabic words, he’s never going to understand you. Not like the goat-fucker understands much anyway, but still…
Clocks aren’t “bomb-like”. But thank you for providing fresh input from the “arrest 14 year old kids who are curious about electronics” perspective. That side had been lacking from this thread.
Insulting me won’t suddenly make Muslims stop terrorizing the rest of the world, nor will it make liberals’ love affair with them any less stupid, but go ahead if it makes you feel better.
Actually, no. The only reasonable response is to ignore him. Every time someone, such as you or Monty, just calls him stupid **bosbfdsfd **becomes more convinced that his genius debating skills and killer points are getting under the skin of the libtards.
No. Muslims upset over people overreacting over “bomb-like” [sic] things in their possession cannot stop blowing themselves up, by the fucking definition of blowing themselves up.
I mean, that’s about the least stupid of the stupidity in what you said, but it still counts.
What I would like to know more about, are the actions of the engineering teacher that Ahmed first showed the clock to.
The engineering teacher clearly knew it was a clock. Did the administration talk to him prior to calling the police? Did he stand up for Ahmed at all? I would be disappointed if he didn’t attempt to be the voice of reason, considering that it sounds like Ahmed made the clock to show him in particular.
Since Muslims make up 23% of the world population - if they, as a cohesive group, wanted to terrorize the world - there would be very little to stop them.
Its actually insulting to trolls to call you one - you’re the kind of troll that other trolls walk away from and pretend they don’t know…
