imdb simply says “following a period of ill health”. Clearly not what my cousin and I have come to term “Hollywood Disease” for the frequency with which imdb lists the cause of death as “undisclosed”.
My son told me that he was on a reunion show with most of the Potter cast and he said he was old and probably going to die soon. All the “kids” were properly horrified and chastised him.
If you have a hankering to be emotionally battered, watch the episode after the first one of season 1, divided (like Gaul) into three parts by Britbox.
Dear God, this was intense. I watched all three parts in one sitting late at night. Not conducive to a restful night’s sleep. Susan Lynch has the most hideously ugly, carnivorous mouth I’ve ever seen on a woman. The red lipstick really accentuates the vampire effect. But she’s good. For a Bad Girl.
As usual, we observe Fitz’ personal life spiraling out of control. He attends a Gamblers Anonymous meeting, and after pulling out a deck of cards, he has all the recovering gamblers jumping off the wagon and slapping down bets.
BUT you will take note that when he steps into the cell with the stuttering, stammering, raging Bad Boy maniac, Fitz approaches him gently, absorbs his energy, “gets” him immediately, and calms him down. “You don’t stutter when you’re angry, right?” This kind of scene is what makes the character so charismatic.
BTW, for those who notice such things, there are a lot of dogs in this episode (you’ll find out why-- from an artistic pov-- at the end), but nothing happens to any of them. This was the early 90s, after all and some kinds of violence were still off limits. Today, the dogs would be killed or at least horribly mutilated for the purpose of producing an adrenaline rush of some kind (in my case, fury) in the viewer.
She’s done a lot of acting since Cracker (e.g. Unforgotten in 2021) and is much better looking than she was in Cracker. And she was indeed VERY good in Cracker.
