I put this here because it’s about an actor … feel free to have it moved if it doesn’t belong
Robert DeNiro’s divorce is getting messier in court as he’s crying poor due to her high maintenance lifestyle…
Here’s my thing ok he married her when he had money so she acquired expensive taste all of a sudden it’s a problem now? The judge’s response is right on the money,

He’s made plenty of money. It’s his fault if he doesn’t have any left.
But Hightower’s lawyer said that De Niro’s “admitted worth” is only $500,000,000. Surely he deserves a break.
Ok, I get that he’s rich, but I don’t understand why he should have to subsidize her lifestyle. I didn’t understand this when my multi-millionaire FIL split with his second wife - nobody needs thousands of dollars in jewelry and fur coats. The first thing she did after filling for divorce was spend extravagant amounts of his money to make it appear that she was used to an even more extravagant lifestyle. She made off with far more than she ever contributed. She didn’t work, they never had kids and she didn’t do much housework, even. So why is she entitled to half his assets?
I understand that when the partner has raised their kids, supported them through school, or they still have minor children, it’s important to provide alimony, but I don’t understand why the alimony is so much money vs a reasonable standard of living.
It’s good news if you’re a Robert De Niro fan. I don’t think I would have had the opportunity to see John Cleese live three times in the last ten years if his divorce settlements didn’t force him to keep working.
Because that’s what the law says. It’s a stupid law, but it’s not some kind of secret law either. I just can’t make myself feel sorry for rich people who throw their money away.
If you’re a Robert De Niro fan, do you really want him to be making movies like The War With Grandpa?
I dunno. The last time I was a De Niro fan was, maybe, Goodfellas or Casino.
I want to know why the pre-nup was so badly written that it hasn’t kicked in yet.
Because they’re still married. I’d guess each side is being difficult about finalizing the divorce/separation, so the whole thing is in limbo.
That’s what I mean by “badly written.” A competent lawyer would have included clauses that would have prevented such shenanigans.
No idea what “thirst for Stella McCartney” meant.
Stella Artois makes an expensive premium beer under the name McCartney and his ex drinks a lot of it?
(Looks it up) Oh, apparently Paul McCartney’s daughter is a high end fashion designer and DeNiro’s ex likes to buy a lot of her clothes.
Yeah, that’s how I read it.
He was great in Heat (1996) and the underappreciated Ronin (1998). Since then it has strictly been cash gabs and the occasional decent if unmemorable supporting roles in The Good Shepherd and some David O. Russell films. Somebody conned me into watching The Irishman and now I have to wonder how much back taxes Scorsese owes as well.
“When you love someone, you’ve gotta trust them. There’s no other way. You’ve got to give them the key to everything that’s yours. Otherwise, what’s the point? And for a while, I believed, that’s the kind of love I had.” — ‘Ace’ Rothstein, Casino

Why is it his fault that he’s plagued by an ex who “needs” $375,000 a month because she’s “become accustomed” to it?
No wonder the judge didn’t seem very sympathetic – frankly, to either of them.
He voluntarily entered that marriage. He’s worth half a billion dollars. Why should either one of them deserve any sympathy? There are people in much worse financial straits that I have sympathy for. He had it and couldn’t hold on to it, why is that anyone else’s fault but his own?
Those two statements seem strangely at odds!
He could supplement his income by doing television commercials. That’s what James Mason did when he was broke after a divorce. You didn’t see Mason whining about it.
If he doesn’t have the money it’s his fault. If he does have the money then I would care less about this if I could. Whatever is going on he is in this position voluntarily, why should anybody care? Have you or he not heard about California divorce law before? There’s no crime here, no fraud, this is what he signed up for.
