Robert DeNiro tries to rape Callista Gingrich

Maybe Jews weren’t the only people she didn’t like.

I misread the first name as Calista Flockhart, and thought that can’t be right. She’s too skinny to rape. She’d split up in the middle. But then a quick google reveals that the three you mentioned are too ugly to rape, so that can’t be right either. Michelle Obama is also ugly as an old hag too. You obviously have no talent for picking rapeworthy first ladies. You could learn something from the French.

Hey, look guys! Rape is hilarious, and also a compliment! Because remember ladies, only pretty girls get raped. Yep. That’s right, it’s scientifically proven! So, all you rape victims, hold your heads up high. Don’t we all feel special? You weren’t raped-- You were CHOSEN!

Or, wait… no. It’s just that Rune is an asshole. :frowning:

I agree with all of this. I take it either as a combination of a praise of Michelle Obama and of black women in general or a dig against people who said that we weren’t ready for a black president. What I don’t see is anything that is directly insulting to any of the Republican candidate wives.

I googled Mrs. Gingrich… do the other two wives look like Batman villains too?

I was going to say no, but Ann Romney kind of does in this picture. I don’t know what face they told her to make there. The fact that her husband might be richer than Bruce Wayne doesn’t help.

You really think she looks like a Batman villainess?

I was put more in mind of Dick Tracy, myself.

Granpa? Who’s “Dick Tracy”?

It doesn’t even approach a “dig,” really. It’s just a mildly wry comment on the fact that the media never, ever asks whether we’re “ready” for a white anything because we’ve lived all our lives with whites in positions of power. It wasn’t a slur against whites or conservatives.

I understand fully why Newt Gingrich is making hay of it, because he’s an opportunist and thoroughly dishonest down to his cholesterol-soaked marrow. I’m completely baffled why anyone else, including people in this thread, would fail (or at least profess to fail) to understand what the joke was and why there was nothing offensive about it.

Disappointed that the response from Michelle Obama wasn’t “really, Newt? REALLY?” but such is the world we’ve created.

I can see her in Tracy too, but this pic made me think of some versions of The Riddler where his mask looks like something out of Commedia dell’Arte.

No it’s not.

When DeNiro made this statement, he was introducing Mrs. Obama who was about to speak at the fundraiser. He was looking at her when he said “are we ready for a white First Lady?”

The unspoken explanation to the “no” answer is that we’re not ready for a white First Lady because we have a First Lady who want to keep for another term (why everyone was there) who happens, in case you missed it, to not be white.

Failing to recognize that this was said by way of introducing Mrs. Obama takes it out of context.

Much ado about nothing. The kinda-sorta apology was the right thing to do, though, if people were offended.

“If you were offended by that, I’m very sorry. For you.”

“I wouldn’t rape Callista Gingrich with a shark pole.” —Robert DeNiro

Maybe De Niro was trying to tell Obama not to leave Michelle for a white chick.

I guess it’s somebody’s time-of-the-month.
: d&r :

“And that goes double for your bitch. Really.”

Wonder what Newt would do if his wife were cheating on him with Obama.

Obama has never seen the day he’d have to settle for that.

When his own mother was a little girl, Union forces arrested her mother and other relatives for giving aid and relief to the Confederates and burned the family’s farm. When she was in her 90s and her son was president, she still hadn’t forgiven it. I doubt his mother-in-law was quite as personal in her anger since she was too young to remember the war, but her family had also been CSA.

She reminds me of what those Drinking Bird toys would look like if they were yellow instead of red.
