Women like Callista don’t have a vulva or a vagina. They only have a urethra, that is the only thing that is small enough to satisfy the miniscule size of someone like Newt. (Ever wonder why he was named Newt? Newts are tiny lizards http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Newt.) Anything else got sown up and rendered impenetrable as soon a Newt got a divorce and it was no longer in her interest to have any hole down there unless it was used for peeing.
Callista doesn’t have hair. She has a helmet that is more protective than anything that an NFL player ever wore.
So if Callista is wearing a helmet like that she assuredly is wearing a virginity belt that is more protective than anything a hockey goalie might wear. Those thing are impenetrable. I doubt that DeNiro could have raper her. If he actually has “Jungle Fever” there is no way.
Her face is as tight as a bow string. If the skin snaps by her ears, her nose will fly fifty feet.
Personally, I’ve never gotten that feeling from Gingrich. I’ve said he reminds me of Nixon - evil but competent.
He’ll do whatever it takes to get elected but once the election’s over he’ll drop it all without a look back (unless it serves his purpose to bring it back). I feel Gingrich would immediately drop the candidate mode and move into the Presidential mode because he’s got his eye on the power.
Candidate Gingrich might complain to the press about the Liberal Media picking on him. President Gingrich would just pick up the phone and call the FCC chairman. The next day the FCC would announce that they had received information that the station in question had been broadcasting outside of the proper frequencies and its broadcast rights were suspended while the matter was being investigated.
I honestly can’t even come up with a context where this would be racist. Well, okay, maybe in a world where white people were an actual minority and were heavily discriminated against, never having been a first lady. Then, just maybe, the comment might be about disparaging white people as a whole.
It was not an offensive joke. Newt took offense because he counted on his supporters being so confused about what racist means, which is a safe bet since many don’t notice racism when it’s right in front of their face. They only know racism because someone they trust tells them it’s racism, and know it isn’t if someone they don’t trust tells them it is.
And this thread has lasted longer than the “scandal”. Obama’s near immediate unpology was perhaps a better move than I thought- it killed it and mad it a “there’s really nothing to see here, move on” thing. I think Newt misfired; Obama saying thank you in sign language is getting more airplay and if the next time Obama sings it’s Get an ugly girl to marry youand he dedicates it to Frau Gingrich I don’t think anybody’s going to much care because “didn’t Newt already get pissy at him mentioning her about something or other?”

I’ve seen Carlin’s take on rape jokes and I have to say there’s a pretty big taste gap between commenting on how hysterical the coverage of DeNiro’s comments will be (because everyone knows that in order for there to be equivalence between the two parties, saying anything remotely centrist is offensive)…
But what strikes me is the lack of parody or understanding the second order signifier in just ranking partners by attractiveness.

I don’t think left or right come out of this well. It was a harmless bloody joke yet we have the damn President weighing in saying it was ‘inappropriate’ and the deranged Gingrich calling it ‘offensive’. Has it really come to this? A guy who is about as far from a racist as you could get makes a mildly amusing comment and the whole country starts squawking in outrage (or at least that part of the country which trumpets its opinions on everything as if the rest of us could give a hoot what they think)?
We all need to lighten up before we get to a point where we’re afraid to open our damn mouths.
