Anyone can play Batman. The challenge is playing Bruce Wayne.

I think the brilliant thing for them to do would be have Pattinson play Batman … but not play Bruce Wayne. In particular, having him play John Blake would be a great backdoor way to bring the Nolan films into the DCEU.

Matt Reeves is directing, and he previously made the new Planet Of The Apes movies. He has a good feel for slow paced bleak drama, so this will suit Pattinson well, who has done a bunch of well received work since Twilight, and seems very similar to Christian Bale to me really.

None of what you wrote makes me at all hopeful that this will be a good movie.

I would challenge that. I can’t think of an actor in the role who didn’t do a good job as Bruce Wayne, but portraying a dual personality as Batman at the same time has been pretty tough.

No, the dual personality is Bruce Wayne. The actor has to be able to brood one minute, and play stereotypical billionaire playboy the next.

To play Batman, all you need is a good chin and a gravely voice.
