Robert Pattinson has (probably) been cast as Batman in the new Matt Reeves movie.
As terrible as it sounds, I have actually seen him in other movies and he is a pretty good actor.
I think he pretty much hates Twilight and wants to do something better to be remembered for.
Well, his life is about to change. Good for him.
At this point, isn’t it easier to list the people who haven’t played Batman?
Gonna play Batman in what? Or do they just have to keep the number of Batman movies even with the number of Spider-Man movies or something?
Anyone can play Batman. The challenge is playing Bruce Wayne.
I would challenge that. I can’t think of an actor in the role who didn’t do a good job as Bruce Wayne, but portraying a dual personality as Batman at the same time has been pretty tough.
that was my problem with Keaton as Batman he was great as Bruce Wayne but he just wasn’t the superhero type … same as Clooney although by the time George got involved the scripts were squeezy-cheeze fests …
Matt Reeves is directing, and he previously made the new Planet Of The Apes movies. He has a good feel for slow paced bleak drama, so this will suit Pattinson well, who has done a bunch of well received work since Twilight, and seems very similar to Christian Bale to me really.
I believe the expectation is this Batman movie will emphasise the Detective side that is often forgotten, so perhaps it will lean more noir.
Will he sparkle?
This is the real question. Is this still for the DC shared universe? is it a reboot?
The shared DC Universe seems to be very loose now. Each subsequent movie is in no hurry to be associated with the others anymore. It’s very possible that the new Suicide Squad, the new Birds of Prey, the new Joker, and the new Batman movies are not going to have any acknowledgement of each other even if a character appears in all of them.
I fervently hope so. It would keep him from being boring.
I prefer smart superheroes fighting smart villains, something I haven’t seen in years.
I am excited for this. Even people who hated B vs S and Justice League agree that it was probably the best visualization of Batman in a live action movie. The Warehouse fight in BvS and the opening of Justice League where Batman captures the Parademon look great.
I look forward to seeing what they do with this one.

When I saw this thread title, at first I misread it as “Rowan Atkinson”.
And Twilight sucked for reasons that were completely outside of the cast’s control. I wouldn’t hold it against him.
