I have 2 dogs so pet hair removal is important to me. Anyone have any pros and cons of models of robot vacs for dog hair? I have both wood floors and carpets.
You need to remove it from the roller axles now and then, but my Roomba 960, and now i7 models have had no problem with my hair or that from my longhair chihuahua.
Ditto for our medium hair (half lab) and our roomba (bought last year, not sure what model).
Do be aware that if your critters have any accidents or regurgitations the robot vac will run that all around the house. They aren’t necessarily the best choice for pet run households. That said, my basic Roomba model did a fine job on both cat hair and cat entertainment.
Yeah, we have a dog and run our Roomba 630 every day. Keeps us same, otherwise we’d have to vacuum everyday!
NB
We got a Roomba knock-off that I loved so much I got a second to do a small chunk of the house that’s on a different level. It’s called a Goovi. It’s not fancy but it does a great job. My only tiny beef is that I wish it had a Bin Full sensor. They were under $100 ea on eBay.
These things work hard. I live in the sandy area of South Carolina, and there are 2 humans, 3 dogs, and 11 cats. The cats have access to a fenced yard that is only partially grassy, so there are a LOT of feet bringing in grit, a lot of litter and kibble scatter, and a lot of pet hair. I do have them set to run when I’m home so I can pick up any ick before they get into it, and I do have to do some nook-and-cranny cleaning because we live in a bit of a clutter at the moment. (Recently moved, trying to figure out crap internet solutions, so we have boxes and wires on the floor still).
I love them enough that I’m researching floor-mopping bots.
Our Golden blew out our first, cheapo, Roomba so we got a pet hair model. It worked great. I’d advise that every so often you unscrew the bottom of it and dig out the hair that gets deep inside. Not hard to do but you’ll be surprised by how much gets deep inside the machine.
