I got the Track Pack 1 for my Wii and I’ve got mixed feelings.
First, twenty more songs (plus a handful of local bands with three or four songs from Rock band and a couple of new ones) is good. While $1.50 per song is a bit higher than I think it should be but it’s less than the downloadable content per song and the disk does include what is essentially the game.
On the other hand the lack of any enhancements at all is a touch disappointing. It’s even the same character models in the background.
I was surprised that the track pack essentially starts out around tier 4 or 5; I was expecting a more gentle ramp and I had to go back to medium for the songs since I was still working on getting hard down.
Still it’s not a bad expansion and I think its a reasonable way to go for those platforms where storage is at a premium (Wii and PS2). I think XBox owners and PS3 owners should demand something similar so they aren’t tied to downloadable content; being able to take your songs with you and not lose them if your system dies is a major plus.
