Rock Star Inxs 7/11

The mohawk is annoying. He’s a hell of a singer, though. So far I’m rooting for him.

I don’t like Jessica at all. And whatever she sang, she sang badly.

Why are all the women pinning their knees together, leaning back at the waist, and prancing around the stage? It’s really weird.

Deanna has an awesome deep neat voice that I actually didn’t like at all singing the Clash. But I’d like to hear her sing other stuff.

I’m going to incur the wrath of Canadians, but I was referring to “North America” as the continent, more so than the country itself

well I was responding to annieclaus’s comment on the number of Canadians.
I for one, do not refer to myself as a (North) American.

Quoted wrong post :smack: A fool is me for not previewing.

Dave Navarro scares me!

I was impressed with last night’s performances and even more impressed with the producers’ song choices. I think Marty (guy with the hat) is the most “INXSy”. The guy that sings to the girls in the front row is mindbogglingly toolish.

First reality show I actually tried to watch, rather than surfing upon it. What can I say? I’m a rocker and am curious how this was playing out.

Missed 1st show.

2nd show - some folks have pipes - fun to hear them.

What fundamentally clashes about this program:
Rock - good rock - has a major element of rebellion. The Beatles in their day were considered rebellious, for having “long” hair and then going psychedelic. Rock music without rebellion is pure pop, like The Monkees. These guys are trying to be rock in a show that is ultimately a pop format. It jars the senses to see someone try to be “rock” in this type of contest - vocal styles and mannerisms that might be great in a live rock performance smack of being fake.

I know, a lot of rock stars are just poseurs who fake rebellion - but a non-contest, live setting increases the possibility that they will feel more real, IMHO.

I would probably watch it again, though. I suspect, however, that this show would have limited appeal - since it is trying to be “rock” I don’t see whole families sitting down to watch it to anywhere close to the same degree as they do for American Idol, which is much more the Ed Sullivan Show of today…

If one of them is actually going to front INXS we can only hope that he or she is also into bizarre sexual suicide.

Booooooooooo!!!

Dave Navarro should never ever talk. He is an idiot and any doubt of that is removed every time he opens his trap.

You mean Hutchence himself is a contestant?

Hey Dave Navarro!

Prince, Harry Blackstone, and Count Chocula called.

They want their looks back.

How about that Kirk guy from INXS? It looks like Steve Buscemi and Mickey Rourke had a love child and dressed him up like Salvador Dali.

Was that fact or urban legend?

Well… It’s more fact than fiction. He was stoned and naked, hanging in a wardrobe. There was no suicide note, no proof from friends/family/anyone that he’d been intending to off himself.

Plus, naked. Who undresses to neck themself?

And then there’s the other guy who looks like a splice of William H Macy and Peter Noone in oversized-Florida-retiree-blueblocker sunglasses. Who’s that guy?

Wow tough crowd!

I would way sooner watch this show than the craptacular “American Idol”. I’m really impressed with the quality of the singers chosen for the show.

I also like how they never chose anybody that had zero talent, make them sing a song and have some loser with a British accent slice and dice them.

This is called INXS Rockstar, not popstar. So I’m gld they’re singing classic and modern rock hits, they can just leave the Mary J Blige and Mariah Carey covers for the TLC (the band, not the channel) singer search.

MtM

To the naysayers, I say: Bah.

If it gets us a good nouveaux-INXS album, it’s a success for its premise.
If it gets Ty Taylor & Jordis Unga some exposure & commercial success as singers (even without INXS) it’s a success for them.

If INXS gets a new lead singer that’s around for more than one tour, & a revitalized career, that’s cake.

And I think INXS led by Deanna Johnston or Ty Taylor would rock.

All three did good jobs with the INXS songs, I thought. Suzie can really sing, though I still don’t much like her.

They picked the first two eliminations right, I think.

I agree. Will WAS the weakest link. I could hardly hear his little song tonight.
This show is like a car wreck. I can’t force myself to look away. I’m doomed.

Darn, I missed it tonight! Which one was Will again? And what did he sing tonight?

I’m loving Jordys…Jordis, however it’s spelled.
