Rock Star INXS 8/23

I don’t have a lot to say because it was so friggin’ boring last night but I will say this:

Jordis sucked! And looked horrible.

Otherwise, nothing, and I mean nothing stood out. For this I made my husband turn off the unrated Ron Burgandy. Well, that and the horror that is the unrated Ron Burgundy.

Could you freakin’ believe that bad note she hit? At least she hit it strong – but omigod.

MiG’s gonna win, dunno why we’re going to have the last few shows.

Still likin’ Suzie, despite her song choice last night.

I agree about MiG. First of all, he’s adorable. But, also, his voice and look are more right for INXS, I think. I really couldn’t see a woman winning anyway, but Jordis was my favorite. Not anymore. You know who I thought she looked like last night? Kimberly Locke!

I think they were all decent (with the exception of Jordis, of course, who was terrible). I liked Deanna’s song, but IMHO MiG’s was better – and he wrote it solo.

The comment, re: Marty, was telling, and I tend to agree. He’s not a good fit for the band.

Jordis has a very pretty voice singing certain songs a certain way, but otherwise (like tonight) she’s shocking. It wasn’t just that note that was off. The whole thing was flat.

I don’t think any of the women will win. Deanna is probably the most suitable out of them.

MiG is probably the best fit overall.

I was really unexcited by last night. It was the first time my husband watched and his choices were MiG and Ty.

Jordis was ghastly.

I liked Ty’s and the blondes. I thought Ty made some strides by being inclusive/helping others out pretty noticably. I thought Marty shouldn’t have done that song. Same goes for Jordis. MiG I thought was meh, JD still puts me off, but I think it’s between those two now. Perhaps now it will boil down to who they want to ride the bus with.

They made such a good point when they asked Jordis why she didn’t take liberties with the melody like last week. Seriously, “Knocking on Heaven’s Door” doesn’t need liberties. There aren’t any notes to reach for. But this one, oh, she has to challenge herself. Blech. And with a stupid hat on her head!

Jordis, you let me down.

I record all of the shows on the DVR and will re-watch them a couple times. After watching this once, I deleted it. I couldn’t watch Jordis sing again, it broke my heart. Well, not really, but it did suck. The original songs were just mlah and I didn’t really care for the bad song selections.

As for the hostess… we get it. You have tits. Make a video, put it on the internet, and be done with it.

Wow, you guys are harsh! I didn’t think it was that bad…maybe because we have fewer competitors and they are filling in more time with the “reality show” segments, it’s not as exciting or something. Anyway, I thought that Suzie, JD (yes, JD though it pains me to say it) Marty, and Ty had the top performances.

Of those, Marty and Ty just don’t seem right for the band; Ty clearly wants to either continue doing theatre or “motownize” every song that comes his way. Marty is better off staying with the Lovehammers or some other band that wants to do Nu Grunge.

Jordis continues her downward slide. She seems like the girl who has a great tone to her voice but not much else going for her right now.

For those who think that MiG has it wrapped up; you need to find and listen to the acoustic radio performance with MiG and Jordis that they did a few weeks back; they’re singing “Never Tear Us Apart” together and MiG just sounded horrible. That’s one of the dangers of the current system on this show; someone can perform well all the way through and we never hear them perform an INXS song, and they could suck at it!

As I mentioned before, JD actually was pretty good this time around. This is the first time that I heard him and thought that maybe he can sing, even if he seems rather limited to me.

I expect Deanna to be gone this week. I don’t like her voice, her fashion sense, etc., bye bye.

Suzie has emerged as my favorite now. People criticize her for crying all the time, but she’s just an emotionally expressive person. I can understand why she would be frustrated, as she definitely did NOT deserve to be in the bottom three the past couple of weeks. Most impressive to me is that she never let herself get rattled by that when she took the stage; you would never know from watching her perform that she’s so frustrated and prone to crying. I voted for Suzie nonstop for over a half hour last night.

My favorite visuals of the night -

Susie’s ve-e-r-r-r-y cautious stage dive into the arms of Lovehammer, almost being lowered down. That was cute!
Marty’s great jump, hanging Matrix-style in midair.
And that baffling but ever-so amusing shot of the audience through MiG’s thighs. Why, Mr. Ayesa, I think you’re trying to seduce me!

JD’s performance was OK, but he’s way too much of an assfedora for my to ever want to see him and his Elvis moves on my TV or with ehr bend, INXS. Marty should stick with what will surely be a great career with Lovehammer. Ty should just go ahead and join the cast of La Cage Aux Folles (sp?) and be fabulous in Vegas.

There was a live chat with the band last night, where Tim & Kirk said they were open to the idea of two lead singers - I think Susie and MiG would be a great combo!

You know, a male/female combo would be kinda neat, I think.

Is there a transcript of this chat up somewhere? I couldn’t find it on the official site…

YES!!! Suzie not only gets the encore, but she was NEVER in the bottom three in voting!! I heart Suzie!!!

Thanks for the info – I’m watching “Idolatrous Dancer,” so I missed tonight’s show.

Wait – so who got booted?

Bummer. Deanna’s gone.

Bottom three were Marty, Deanna, and Ty. Somehow Jordis managed to stay out of the bottom three, although she repeatedly stated that she deserved it and felt it was supposed to be “her turn” in the bottom three. Guess that shows what powervoting Jordis fans are capable of. Anyway, I thought that Ty’s performance of “What You Need” was OK but not great. Deanna stunk it up with “Elegantly Wasted” in my opinion. And Marty was…well, he was Marty with “Don’t Change.”

Marty may have changed my mind a little bit about whether he is right for the band…maybe he has a point, with the whole “meet you half way” thing. I can respect that.

I thought Marty’s elimination performance was a little flat. Then again, I’ve haven’t been the hugest fan of his during the show’s run so far.

I don’t have a link to the transcript, but I do have a portion of it (I emailed it to a fellow junkie) - here ya go:

From tonights chat on the Australian MSN site, Tim and Kirk answered some questions. I have posted about half of them, I have most of the others, but they did not really say much in those. Enjoy.

UberBetty in ninemsn_events2 asks: Which of the vote results have surprised you the most?
ninemsnLive_Guest says: Kirk: I don’t know, we have just watched the performance show which airs in a few hours in Australia and I was surprised by the bottom 3 in the initial voting.
jbanana in ninemsn_events2 asks: Can you tell us who selects the songs the singers choose from every week?
ninemsnLive_Guest says: Kirk: It is a combination of us and the producers of the show.
ninemsnLive_Guest says: For example last week we chose the songs and asked them to perform them in an acoustic format.
dee in ninemsn_events3 asks: Are you looking for a completely new genre or keeping the well loved inxs sound?
ninemsnLive_Guest says: Tim: We can’t take INXS out of the band and it’s hard to take the band out of INXS.
ninemsnLive_Guest says: I guess whatever we do is going to sound like us, only with a different front cover, which would be the new singer.
ninemsnLive_Guest says: Hopefully, like every album we have ever done, we’ve tried to reinvent ourselves, this album should be no different.
lyndal in ninemsn_events1 asks: Kirk, do you guys take much note of behind the scene going ons, such as JD’s attempt at overiding the others, after all you would have to work with him, does this come into the final decision on who you would pick ?
ninemsnLive_Guest says: Kirk: Absolutely. That was one of the main ideas of the show.
ninemsnLive_Guest says: In putting them all in a house together it brings out their true personalities and how they work and relate with other people.
hannahvt in ninemsn_events3 asks: Not naming any names are there any contestants you would hate to have as your new lead singer?
ninemsnLive_Guest says: Tim: Yes
ninemsnLive_Guest says: At the beginning of the show some had revealed themselves as inappropriate, others had risen to the ocassion.
ninemsnLive_Guest says: I’m sorry but that question is just not right for our band INXS.
XStalker in ninemsn_events1 asks: Are you guys happy with the way things have evolved on the show? I must admit - I thought the ‘rockers’ were pretty Ho Hum at the start, but can actually envision two of them fronting you now…that must have given you a few grey hair lol
ninemsnLive_Guest says: Tim: Yes, at first, but this show is breaking unchartered territory.
ninemsnLive_Guest says: It has evolved during the course of the season.
ninemsnLive_Guest says: I think it is getting better and better and better to the point where we are just very proud of the television we are making.
ninemsnLive_Guest says: You can feel the tension now that there are only 7 or as of tomorrow, 6 singers left.

MiG-29 in ninemsn_events1 asks: Is it possible that you would choose a female singer and if so would it be a problem changing key and other aspects for songs you have already written?
ninemsnLive_Guest says: Kirk: Absolutely we started this with 8 female singers. We are completely open to that.
ninemsnLive_Guest says: And yes it would create some issues with keys but hey, we’re musicians and we can sort that with no problems.
ninemsnLive_Guest says: Tim: It does seem though from the voting, that we may have to surprise people because it seems people are trying to tell us they can’t imagine us with a female singer.
ninemsnLive_Guest says: But you never know.
Kick87 in ninemsn_events1 asks: Will you run the show for another season if you don’t go for any of these contestants?
ninemsnLive_Guest says: Tim: Good question.

XStalker in ninemsn_events1 asks: Timski…I read yesterday you did an interview on Triple M in Oz - please inform us in future - you say have two singers isn’t out of the question. I’m actually campaigning for two myself. What do you think of that?
ninemsnLive_Guest says: Kirk: Awesome idea !!
ninemsnLive_Guest says: Tim: I’m always up for a good old threesome. Anything is possible on this show. That was my point.
ninemsnLive_Guest says: Secondly, I am on Triple M Breakfast show around Australia every Monday morning except for Perth when it’s Thursdays.

Sweet! Thanks!

I personally would love to see them with a male/female combo as lead singers.
