Rocketeer finishes an airboat

I just wrapped up a model project, and thought I’d share the results.
This is actually a sequel to another model I built, a floating island hotel with a bit of a macabre twist:

Miss Blomstel Meets With a Terrible Accident, 1

Miss Blomstel Meets With a Terrible Accident, 2

Miss Blomstel Meets With a Terrible Accident, 3

But I couldn’t leave Miss B just falling, so I decided to build a Rescue. The basic hull is a Coast Guard lifeboat kit; the engine is a hopped-up Model T four-banger; the lift engines are shortened clip-on reading lights. Miss B and Giles are modified 1/24 scale Trucker and Trucker Gal figures.

"Why, Miss Blomstel!

Fancy meeting

you here!"

Those sheep are going to be getting hungry pretty soon.

Oh, and I fixed one of the links.

Thanks. Flickr gives you an immensely long link, which you have to edit down, so there’s plenty of opportunity for screw-ups and typos.

That texture on the house is amazing! As is the whole thing.

That’s amazing! It’s so whimsical and fun. You did a great job capturing motion. It also makes me want to know a bit more about the world in which a Victorian mini-farm is situated on a rocket supported island. Great work!

Thanks! It was a lot of fun to build.

Always a joy to see your stuff, but somewhat depressing as well. I can’t even imagine things so cool, let alone build them.

Well done, and nice catch, Giles!

I agree that you did a fantastic job conveying motion and position; this is another top-notch item from you.

Both builds are as awesome as always (although you know I’m going to say that house needs more weathering - the side paneling and frames paint treatments are amazing, but they’re so good that the pristine roof and decking just cries out for similar treatment - just a little water marking).

The rescue piece is wonderful - very good storytelling, and I love the water effects, her hair, and especially the forced perspective.

Thanks, guys!
