"Rocky and Bullwinkle" is 50!

“Never underestimate the power of a shnook.” That was a line by Boris in a commercial. Only R&B had commercials with quotable lines.

I remember it. But IIRC the monster (a transformed horrible boy) sings that as he looks into a mirror and goes “I hate you! I hate you! I hate you like I hate myself!”

I also remember: “Grandmas you can tell afar; they belong to D.A.R.” (Daughters of American Ridinghoods). And baskets full of

KABOOM!!!

goodies.

What incredible, wonderful wackiness!

Unless it was replaced with Hush-a-Boom.

Are they…friendly spirits?

Hey, that one was on the Rocky and Bullwinkle record I had as a kid, along with Rocky singing “I was born to be airborne” and Mr. Peabody and Sherman visiting Ponce de Leon.

Pottsylvania: where TV shows have 10 minutes or programming and 50 minutes of commercials.

Not too far from what we have today.

(perhaps paraphrased)

Natasha: “I thought you said plan was foolproof.”

Boris: “Foolproof, yes. Idiot-proof, no.”
