Does this title have some relevance to this ballad? Maybe someone can explain what that title means… - Jinx
I don’t know the song, but “young turk” is an expression meaning “upstart” or “rebel.”

Biffy, that makes sense. But, is it perhaps more of a British, UK, or European expression? Never heard it as a figure of speech before, and a local (US) DJ made a similar remark how she never understood the title of that song.

Wall Street Journal , Feb. 6, 2006:
More than anything, Rep. [John Boehner]'s success represents the intent of Republican members of the House to repair their credentials as reformers with the American people. His victory was made possible because he was able to find common purpose with John Shadegg, Jeff Flake, Mike Pence and the rest of the Young Turks of the party eager to regain what some are calling the Spirit of '94.
New York Post , Jan. 8, 2006:
A stunning 49 percent of Americans now see Congress as corrupt but so far they blame Republicans and Democrats equally. The risk was, that could quickly change to an anti-Republican mood if DeLay became the political face of the scandal.
That’s why Republican Young Turks like Rep. Charlie Bass (N.H.) and Zach Wamp (Tenn.) began lining up anti-DeLay petitions when he balked at going.
Anchorage Daily News , Dec. 30, 2005:
Nowadays, I’m just wondering what everybody else seems to be wondering: Why are Democrats — not unlike Linus awaiting the Great Pumpkin — desperate for former Gov. Tony Knowles to announce he is running for a third term?
It does not say much about this once-proud party, the party of Bill Egan and Bob Bartlett, when it has to hitch its political fortunes to a retread. Where are all the young turks who will carry it deep into the 21st century?
Baltimore Sun , Dec. 19, 2005:
Luge, the French word for sled, is one of two Olympic sports timed to one-thousandth of a second. Yet instead of being an exclusive club for young turks with catlike reflexes, sliders often get better with age and experience.
