His 85th birthday was to be next week.
Ah, too bad. I think of him more for his performance as the only slightly believable Travis McGee ever to reach film. (There was a badly mangled horror with Sam Elliott in the 1980s).
Fine actor. Good long run. I don’t know much about his life in recent years but I hope it was a good one.
I came in here to say this, too. IIRC, according to McDonald’s published exchange of letters with Dan Rowan, McDonald thought that Taylor had the physical qualities to play McGee well.
My favorite TV show as a kid (for the whole 14 episodes) was “Bearcats!” Had the plastic model and everything.
I remember him best for The Time Machine. A good and overlooked actor.
I loved it, too. Glad it’s finally available on DVD.
He had a cameo as Winston Churchill in Inglourious Basterds, but that was 5 years ago.
That’s fantastic news! Thanks!
What a manly man stud that guy was. RIP.
Watch out- you have to get the pilot movie separately. But still good news indeed!
You’re not just whistling Dixie. If you do a search for “young Rod Taylor”, you’ll see some yummy images. He was built like a brick telephone booth.
I just watched The Time Machine a couple of days ago. RIP, Rod.
Sad to see that Rod Taylor has passed away.
I’ll always remember him as George from “The Time Machine” - one of my all time favorite films.
People have mentioned his other roles but does anyone remember the television show “Outlaws”?
Yeah, me too. I’ve probably seen that movie half a dozen times. The remake was awful.
