Especially at his age. I recall reading that a hip fracture is often the beginning of the end in the elderly, even if they’re healthy before the fracture. Seems a lot of them end up dying within five years; things just sort of start snowballing.

And he’s already had an avalanche of shit health-wise. I feel really bad about this, so much that it has surprised me. I hope he pulls through.
He’s not that old; only 61 although he certainly has had health problems which may make his recovery more difficult.
