Romantic Hotel & Honeymoon Suggestions for Seattle in May?

Hello - in this recent thread I was asking for accomodations near Safeco Field.

Well, it looks like our little trip to see a couple of Red Sox / Mariners games has turned into a mini-honeymoon!!!

So, any ideas for any romantic spots to stay, AND, should we tell them we’re on our honeymoon or will that just cause them to jack up the price?

Thanks Dopers!

The Alexis Hotel is nice and is within fairly easy walking distance of Safeco.

I’ve heard good things about the Sorrento Hotel and the W Seattle, but haven’t stayed at either of them, so can’t speak from personal experience.

I’ve stayed there, several times. Recommended. I’m not sure I’d call it “romantic”, but it is a very nice downtown hotel.

Thanks for the suggestions so far … we’ll check those out! We just want a place that is special, you know? Not just an ordinary hotel …

If you don’t mind spending more for something really spiffy, try The Fairmont Olympic Hotel.

So are you looking for other suggestions, or just hotels? If you’re looking for other ideas, and if you’re the outdoorsy sort, I’d recommend visiting the San Juan Islands, and visiting the Olympic National Park.

Specifically in the Park you can go to the Elwha Hot Springs, and if you’re up for a long drive, to the Makah Indian Reservation. But the entire park is astonishingly beautiful.

If you’re not the outdoorsy sort, nevermind!

I mentioned it in the other thread, but I had such a great experience there, I’ll mention it again here. Get a waterfront room at the Edgewater. My wife and I stayed there for our tenth anniversary and absolutely loved it. The view of the bay is awesome.

IMHO, wherever you go, defintely tell them you’re on your honeymoon. No one is going to jack their price up for that. You may get them to do something nice for you though.

Absolutely mention you are on your honeymoon! I used to work for a luxury hotel chain and we always made a note on the reservation. This usually results in some nice personal touches (possibly an unexpected room upgrade, complimentary amenity, etc). Tell the reservation agent!

Are they going to jack up the price? Not where I worked. They will likely offer you a honeymoon package, but there may be other packages you would prefer that are more cost effective. Maybe you’d prefer to get the room alone without a package. There are lots of options. If the agent is any good, they will ask some qualifying questions to determine the right room and/or package for your needs.

Sorry, I should’ve mentioned we’re only there for a couple of nights to go to two Red Sox v. Mariners games.

Ass… - I remember your recommendation and yeah, we are looking at the Edgewater too.

I’m compiling all of these links and I’ll send them to my honey so he can pick one and “surprise” me.

Cyros - thanks for the tip - guess I’m too cynical!
