My boyfriend is taking me to the mountains next week. We are staying in a cabin in a fairly secluded area so we plan on having dinner in most nights. I want to make him a romantic dinner.
Here is my situation. I do not know how to cook many things. (He does most of the cooking.) I am going to be in a cabin and although it is supposed to have a well equipped kitchen I am not sure what cooking equipment it will actually contain. There is a grocery store close by, but it is probably a fairly small one that won’t have a lot of unusual foods. Finally, I I have not idea to plan a menu. Even if I found one item I would like to cook I would have no idea what to cook with it. I don’t know what foods go together.
I need help! I am desperate! Please give me your favorite romantic dinner menus. I can find recipes on the Internet but I am having a hard time finding full menus.
For once I would like to do something that really wows him. He does so many romantic things me.
Zumba, that sounds like a great weekend. A cabin in the mountains…mmmm.
Remember, romantic isn’t so much about the food as the company and atmosphere. Something as simple as spaghetti and meatballs, with salad, garlic bread and red wine can be extremely romantic if it’s with someone you care deeply about.
You might try foods that don’t need cooking, but can be eaten slowly over good conversation.
Bread, cheese, wine, olives, fresh tomatoes sliced and sprinkled with fresh chopped basil, salt and a bit of olive oil.
Foods that will leave you satisfied but not so full you get sleepy.
Finish with fruit or good chocolate or something else that will leave your mouth fresh for smooching.
How about chicken parmesan and pasta, with a side veggie and some garlic bread?
Chicken Parm:
About 1 LB chicken breasts (not cutlets…too thin)
Tomato sauce (I like Classico)
12 to 14 oz shredded mozzarella
breadcrumbs
grated parmesan cheese (optional)
1 egg
dried oregano and/or basil (optional)
pasta of you choice
canned veggie of your choice
1 loaf of Italian Bread (or French, if that’s all you can get)
butter
garlic powder
Bread the chicken breasts by dipping them in the beaten egg and then coating in breadcrumbs. Place them in a baking dish and bake at 350 for about 25 to 30 mins. Once they’re in the oven, you can prepare the water for the pasta. Remember to add a little salt. You can also prepare the garlic bread now. Cut the loaf of bread as if you were making a big sandwich. Butter it well, and then sprinkle on the garlic powder, parmesan cheese and a little oregano and basil. Put it to the side for now.
Once the chicken is cooked, remove from the oven and spoon some of the tomato sauce onto it. Sprinkle some parmesan cheese, and then a nice layer of the shredded mozzarella. I like to sprinkle a little oregano and pepper on top of the cheese. Put it back in the oven for about 10 to 15 mins. Don’t let the cheese melt too much, or it will liquefy. Place the bread (open-faced) on a cookie sheet, and put it in the oven when you put the chicken back in. Your water should be boiling by now, so add the pasta and cook it about 8 to 11 mins. In two small sauce pans, heat up the rest of the tomato sauce in one, and the veggie in the other. I usually make green beans, and serve them with a little butter, salt and pepper.
Serve the chicken plated with the pasta. Top the pasta with a bit of parmesan cheese. Slice the bread, and place it in a bowl, or a basket lined with napkin. Serve the veggies in a separate dish. I don’t like white wine, so I usually serve White Zin.
Don’t forget the candles!
Have a great weekend!
