Rome

I thought “ancient Rome” without spcifically thinking “empire” or “republic.”
(And, uh, off-topic, but when I read Derleth’s tangent about Euell Gibbons, I kept seeing it as “Evil Gibbons” until I forced myself to pay more attention.)

F: When in Rome, do as the Romans.

C, the Roman Republic.

I’m hungry so…

F) Really good pasta with roasted plum tomatoes, fresh basil, garlic and lemon.

F. The city in the Ancient Roman Empire.

B. The Ancient Roman Empire.

But I’m a history buff.

togas.

C. But I just got done with a thread about ancient languages.

A.

A., shortly followed by B and then C. Then I thought about being in Rome.

Just ancient Rome, neither the Empire nor the Republic specifically.

Me too. But if I hadn’t heard about the series, then A and B.

I thought of A. Mostly because I thought it would be some kind of travel thread.

A, looking for travel info.

I thought of Rome: Total War as well.

The Empire. Only because I have been reading some late imperial biographies lately.

A. Don’t know why…that was just the first thing that popped into my head.

I think I love you.

I just came from reading Cafe Society and I too thought it was about the new HBO series coming up in the fall.

Half naked men, leather…hmmmmmmm!

Ditto.

B and C; but I’m a Classics minor and have been squandering all my summer reading time with anicent history books instead of researching for my approaching religion thesis.
