As God is my witness, I believed [del]pigs[/del] pandas could fly.
And a stupid shit like this is the future of the GOP. Remember this, folks, when you look around and try to tell yourself that they’ll pull out of their insane nose dive eventually.

Please tell me this is a whoosh, cuz though irrelevant to the Romney thing, I am pretty sure Hillary didn’t consent. Nor did I consent when my ex-wife committed adultery. Hence she is my ex-wife.
A lot of great medical advances have involved doing some pretty fucked up shit to animals. Would that sort of thing count, or does the animal cruelty have to be purely recreational?
Hillary didn’t commit adultery. And you don’t know, nor does anyone else, what the situation of their marriage was. Which is precisely why it’s none of our damn business. What happened was totally consensual.
Ummm..what? I mean again this is irrelevant of the thread topic, but what the fuck are you talking about?
Adultery in the sense that is being discussed is infidelity. And to say it’s consensual is… fucking ridiculous. Infidelity in and of itself is not consensual
This thread has been off the rails for 2 and a half pages. Kinda funny, really.
That’s what happens when a thread is Clintoned in post #3.
It’s a step towards the future anyway. In the old days, a thread would be Kennedy’ed by post #2.
Or the Illuminati by post #1.
Or faster than light neutrinos at post -1.
It was Clinton-ed because Democrats made the same fucking argument about Clinton, that his moral failings had nothing to do with whether or not he was a good president. What’s good for the goose is good for the gander. If it’s okay for you to judge Romney on this for what you consider bad, then it’s okay for Republicans to judge Clinton on his adultery because they think that’s beyond the pale.
And the type of abuse of animals by sociopaths includes such things as burning, stepping on, killing pets. It does not include suboptimal accommodations for one’s pets. At no point were we given any indication that he was intending to torture him. We get no psychopathic vibes from this story.
And you guys do realize that the stance that pets are equal to humans is out of sync with the rest of society, right? So, no, just because you wouldn’t do it to your child doesn’t make it torture for the pet. You may find Romney’s actions morally wrong, but so few people treat their pets as children that such an argument is hardly convincing.
Look, I have my reasons for being against Romney, but this isn’t one of them. My town is 20 years behind the times, and we’re still just now getting the message that leaving a dog in the back of a truck is not a good idea. In fact, the fact that he actually secured him down is an improvement over how many still handle it.
The only person I think badly of is the writer who thought it was a good example of Romney’s character. It shows he’s out of touch with what the majority think about such behaviors now. It’s one of those “didn’t know any better” things, not something to show pride in.
It wasn’t just the writer. Somebody on Team Romney fed this story to the reporter, who was basically writing a puff-piece. Cleaning up the dog and the mess with a hose was suppose to be an example of forthright action on the part of Romney. I’m sympathetic to those who do dumb things. But thinking that this anecdote would show your candidate in a flattering light just seems weird to me.
No shit.
I hope neither of you have pets.
Pets are family. They ride in the car. IN the car. Would you put the dog in the trunk of a car?
Quite frankly, neither of you are worthy enough to own a pet.
Has no one ever seen one of these? Quite common in rural New Zealand.
It’s also common for stock carriers to have a dog box mounted under the deck where the dog gets put after moving the stock onto the truck. Couldn’t find an image of that one though.
I may think Romney’s politics are to the right of Ghengis Khan, but taking his dog on holiday in a dog carrier strapped to the roof of his car isn’t something that would exercise my outrage meter.

If I had no room in the car, then sure, why not?]Why not get a car big enough to handle your entire family? He could certainly afford one. AMC even made buses at the time; get Daddy’s company to loan you one.
What I wonder is why he didn’t put the luggage on top of the car and the dog in the back of the station wagon? I’m guessing he cared more about the luggage than the dog.
Consensual apart from the whole potential sexual harassment angle. Banging a junior employee pretty much always shows bad judgment. But not bad judgment enough to counter the great job he was doing at the time.
Doing this to a dog appears show bad judgment too. Though nowhere near as bad judgment as Romney’s political beliefs indicate.
