Ron Glass (Detective Harris on Barney Miller) has died

"If you take advantage of that girl you’re going to burn in a very special level of Hell-- the one reserved for child molesters and people who talk at the theater.

“The SPECIAL Hell.”

Man, he was HOT! And not in a hellish way.

ETA: The t-shirts are a hoot!

Poor Chano. He was supposed to be the star and that lasted about six episodes.

Sorry, the dog died last night.

Ron Glass did a great job playing Det. Ron Harris. He rocked the best Afro on tv. Afro’s were a popular style in the 70’s.

I haven’t seen him in anything else.

RIP

I thought if you haven’t watched Firefly you weren’t allowed to post here. I’ll have to work on that Registration Agreement.

One of my favorite bits of the New Twilight Zone series.

Ron was a pretty cool dude. RIP. :frowning:

He was brilliant in this role. RIP Shepherd.

Someone on my Facebook FL asked why nobody mentioned his role in WKRP in Cincinnati. I answered they need to watch their mouth because if 2016 hears, it’ll fuck Tim Reid’s shit up. I checked and they were the same age.

“I don’t care how rich you are; I have something you will NEVER have: a credit rating.”

My favorite line of his (from Barney Miller):

“It’s Kopechne, Barney. He’s a werewolf.”

I better put some paper down in the cage.

I remember him saying he was going to try get permission to write some reunion books on the barney miller crew once and never heard if actually he did

I always thought his character was the most level person on miller next to barney even though in the beginning he only took the job for writing material and found out he was really good at it … that’s why in the last episode he was like …“Well if I cant work with you guys f-it and ill go write again”’ one question tho did barney finally retire in the final episode …?

RIP, Detective. :frowning:

(I never saw Firefly.)

Ron was in a glass by himself.
RIP.

I think it was just the building that was retiring. The detectives were going to new assignments.

Anyone remember the episode of Barney Miller where Harris gave an impassioned monologue about what it’s like to be black (he was mistaken for a perp and was shot at by uniformed cops)? His frustration and anger were palpable; it was a performance that rose way above sitcom levels and should not go unmentioned.

It actually shook me up a bit. Powerful stuff.

The Harris Incident
mmm

Wait, Abe Vigoda is DEAD?

I thought that was just an urban legend!
