Roosters In the Suburbs

In my experience, suburban chickens start out as an “investment,” and wind up as people’s pets. You may be asking your neighbor to shut up his rooster, but to him, it’s probably now a pet.

My brother had two pet chickens. He named them Original Recipe and Extra Crispy. (No, he never ate them. He just has a sardonic sense of humor.)

I also live in the DC 'burbs although outside the great wall where a neighbor had a rooster, then two, then three. I wasn’t the only one who was tired of the crowing. Fortunately the county has a website where you can file a complaint and magically the problem disappeared then I got a notice that the issue was resolved. The guy gets to keep chickens and a wide assortment of other birds but the roosters are a noise problem.
