Well, see, first you have weight loss surgery that, one, cuts your stomach down to a 4oz. capacity, and two, requires you to get 90g of protein a day. Then, and only then, was I able to fully comprehend the concept of being “too full for junk food”.
Ahh, yes. That makes sense.
Hope the surgery worked out for you!
Also, Stainless Steel Sinks.
But can a mountain pass?
I may be stating the obvious, but is your root beer refrigerated? I found that mine (A&W) foams much less when it is cold.

I guess I’m going to be the weird one here by saying that I’ve never had an ice cream float. I mean, I’ve heard of root-beer floats before (obviously), but I never knew exactly what they were. I assumed that they were, like, milkshake-y things. Odd.
I want to try one now, however all we have in our freezer is this low fat green tea ice cream and I am not so sure how it’d taste with diet Dr. Pepper. Icky, I’d dare to venture.
Oh, well. I suppose I’ll just have to try an’ remember to pick up some root beer in the near future as everyone here seems to like them so they must be tasty.
[hijack]I had the surgery June 2nd, and so far, I’ve lost 60lbs. So, for now, I’m very pleased; now, if I can lose about 80 more, I’ll be thrilled![/hijack]
Blecccchhh! Yes, you’ll definitely have to pick up some root beer and vanilla or chocolate ice cream.
Quite well, thank you, considering that I hadn’t slept and all of the pictures I was showing were dark red on black (lysotracker rocks, though).
The major message I’m getting here is that I should learn to love the foam. Since I don’t, I’ll make sure my root beer is pre-chilled and my glass is angled, and I’ll just have to dig through any remaining foam to get to my favorite bits. Thanks for the tips, guys!
I was talking with one of my labmates and she suggested a sorbet float made with plain seltzer water - that sounds like just the thing for the next heat wave.

I live around the corner from Korova, a bar modelled after the “milk bar” in Clockwork Orange. They serve a wide variety of alcoholic milkshakes and milky mixed drinks. Yum.

Maybe not…if it weighs the same as a duck, it’s made of wood, and therefore not a witch nor root beer.
and you too supervenusfreak mmm, I love those names.
can y’all make to my “let’s get nekkid” party?
Well we don’t have root beer in the UK so on holiday I bought a bottle in Michigan just to try it y’see.
Now I like America and most things American but root beer tastes like car polish smells…I’m sorry
Chowder man you’re from the UK and with all the shit y’all eat, you got the balls to say rootbeer sucks? (it needs some blood and/or some sheep parts in it, huh?)
gotta love it

Or a smidgeon of tripe to give it body.
So how about a whiskey float? Anybody ever tried such a thing? I know I’ve seen some girly drinks at the bar which had Kahlua and some other alcohol mixed w/ icecream/whipped cream and stuff.
a jimbeam and coke float! I think I’m gonna do it.
I’ll get straws if anyone wants a taste.
Or a horse fly?
I heartily recommend root beer floats made with Virgil’s root beer and Double Rainbow ice cream (vanilla and coffee are both excellent), both purchased in Trader Joe’s. Had one earlier tonight. And last night. And the night before.
That’s the term used in my family, too.
Vanilla ice cream added to a glass of cola is called a black cow.
I’m in the upper midwest U.S.A., for all you forensic linguists out there.
7-Up and vanilla ice cream.
The essence of summery and light.
(Winter is root beer and coffee ice cream.)
