Route of / Stops on the (still-nonexistent) 2nd Ave NYC Subway Line?

Back before the economy went down the toilet, New York City was dusting off the notion of putting in a 2nd Ave subway line. I’m pretty sure they even spent money on resurveying and etc.

Now I know part of the tunnel has already been dug (a long time ago, perhaps in the Lindsay era?) and that because the NYCTA prefers to keep the curious and/or homeless from roaming around in them they’ve tended to be a bit vague as to exactly where the empty tunnel portions are (nevertheless I think I’ve seen maps). What I haven’t seen, surprisingly enough, is the anticipated route map.

Would it start in the Bronx, or upper Manhattan? Would there be an upper-end junction allowing one to swap to the 4 5 or 6? Where would the stations be? Would new stops spring up on the F, E/V, 7, N/R, and L lines to allow transfer to the <2nd Ave line> at the points where they’d intersect? Was there going to be a pair of trains on the line (local/express) or just one? Would it terminate in alphabet city or lower east side, veer towards midtown, or cross over into Queens or Brooklyn?

I mean, I assume they thought about these things, yes? They didn’t just say “Gee, let’s put a subway line along 2nd Ave, go out there and start digging” without some notion of where they were going with this thing, did they? I figure sooner or later we’ll be hit with a bond issue, and one would hope that it would be accompanied by a proposed route map and all (how else would NY’ers know whether or not they want the damn thing? of what use is a subway with no stops destinations or connections?), but because I’m curious I thought I’d try to find out in advance.
