David was Elizabeth’s uncle. He upset his entire family by abdicating and members of the family blame the stress of unexpected kingship for Elizabeth’s father’s relatively short life. I would be surprised to see David used again.
I told my wife last night that even though it was a boy, they’re giving him a girl’s name. Then off the top of my head I rattled off Henrietta Elizabeth Diana Camilla. I think she almost bought it for a second.
I hope they go hippy, and pick something like “River”. River Cambridge has a real ring to it…
Well it’s one of Harry’s middle names so its not like its banned. And they don’t seem put off by the Edward name either. I think this speculation about disgraced names occupies the minds if the press more than it does the Royals.

Arthur has a bit of a curse on it: the original Arthur didn’t end up too well, then Arthur Plantaganet was killed by his uncle King John, then Arthur Tudor died without consummating his marriage (or did he? Became an issue at trial many years later, but I don’t think anybody including Henry 8 believed he actually had). I say steer clear of it.
I’d go with Henry or Edward to go ahead and get a IX after a name instead of stalling at 8.
