Royal Bayreuth 1794 Bavaria Dishes

My grandmother had used the same set of dishes for as long as I can remember. Pretty dishes, but nothing “special”, just the everyday variety. When she died, I kept them. Sentimental value. I have three of the plates hanging on a wrought iron plate-hanger.

I was rearranging my cupboards, where I keep the odds and ends of what remains of her set. I don’t know why I didn’t see this before, but under the serving bowl, I noticed:

Royal Bayreuth over two lions holding a crest with a T, under the crest 1794, under that emblem Bavaria. Also printed on the side of the bottom rim, “Bavaria”. Very faintly engraved by hand, I see “D.” near the rim’s Bavaria. Almost completely on the other side, I see also very faintly engraved by hand, "K.M."

Her set is incomplete, as they’ve been used as daily dishes for so long. Many were broken. I looked this up on Google and found many pieces called “Royal Bayreuth 1794 Bavaria”, but none resembling the exact design of my set.

My set has a dark cream-coloured background. The edges are decorated in what I believe to be gold, set amongs different coloured flowers. Each dinner plate looks to be the same, but with a different flower in the middle.

I would never want to sell them, no matter how much they are worth (if anything ~ though I am curious). But I would LOVE to complete the set, or at least get a few more serving pieces to go in a buffet hutch.

Does anybody know of this set? Or where I could get some more? PS: Ebay was of no help.

Thanks

Royal Bayreuth was founded in Bavaria in 1794. Those markings are nothing unusual. The “T” crest stands for the manufacturing plant in Tettau. If you want to find matches for those particular plates, you need to search for their characteristics – plates, flowers, gold edges, etc.

I’m no expert, this is just what I found on Google.
