Royal wedding--dish the clothes and hats

Beatrice’s hat, in my opinion, looks like bathroom wall decor at the Brady Bunch house.

No kidding. And frankly, if my mom was busted trying to pimp out access to my dad to the highest bidder so she could score some cash I’m not sure I would want to spend much time with her either.

I thought the choice of bridesmaid dress for Pippa was rather strange. It was bascially a bridal gown in it’s own right.

I think it drew too much attention to her hips.

Up until about 40 years ago no woman was considered formally dressed enough for a wedding or other church service without something on her head in the US too. Nowdays this only applies to black women. It’s quite a shame really.

The subset of Britain that is Scotland still has great hats at weddings. Mind you, at a formal wedding it’s the men who often get to dress up.

Heh… check out the Dune miniseries that came out back in 2000.

Handbag goes with shoes. Shoes may or may not go with dress. Hat should go with dress. Says my sister, anyway.

Someone else already mentioned that she’d have worn blue if it was sunny and yellow if it was cloudy. The ocassion calls for gold clerical vestments on the Archbishop.

Fun game: Do a Google image search for “steampunk” and “hat,” and see how long it takes before you find one sillier than princess Beatrice’s.

It took me scrolling halfway down the page until I found these…which still look cooler, and don’t make the wearer look like a Who down in Whoville.

CNN has some good pictures up.

Got to disagree about Vicky Beckham. Hate the dress and hat (4th pic). I green hat on the woman in front of her, though.
I like the mother of the bride’s dress and hat (5th picture)
The Blue Canoe and her friend look just awful (8th)

Since no one could tell she was pregnant with her previous pregnancies, I doubt she has a big old pregnant belly at 5 months. She probably just wanted to show off her maternity line at a big event.

I also like the idea of bringing back sleeves on wedding dresses. Strapless dresses are too overdone and not everyone should be wearing strapless.

I like Treacy’s hats as works of art but many of them just aren’t practical anywhere but on the runway.

I have strange opinion about hats.

  1. They should be on top of your head.
  2. They should not be primarily on your forehead.
  3. Hi Opal
  4. They should stay on your head without pins (or other fasteners)
    call me crazy. Commit me.

Beatrice’s hat and funny comment

Ever seen these shots ? How about this one ?

Beatrice’s hat is cute. Ridiculous, but cute. Her eyes will eat your soul though. If she wore it as a form of protest because her mother wasn’t invited, I like it even more. “Ill go without you mummy, but I’ll look a fool!”

Okay, but she’s definitely the ugliest royal now.

You’re not the only one. The Pippa Middleton Ass Appreciation Society on Facebook has 68,000 members and counting.

I thought the bride looked stunning. It was a very elegant and timeless dress, not one that she’ll look back on thirty years from now and wonder “What was I thinking?” She really has impeccable style.

i guess it is a good party if the back half of your dress goes missing. see picture of beatrice about 3 pictures down.
