RR user names

I’ve noticed we have several conservative posters who have user names with the initials RR: RaleighRally, Rand Rover, and Recovering Republican (and maybe others that don’t come immediately to mind).

Is this just a coincidence or is it an intentional tribute to Ronald Reagan?

It seems to me that’s something you’d have to ask them personally. The mods won’t have any special way of knowing why someone chose the initials of their username.

ATMB is not just for questions to the mods.

Well, yes; my point is that unlike the mods none of the RR people have any particular reason to come to this subforum. They can’t answer if they don’t even know the question is being asked.

I’m glad I didn’t go with my original user name choice, Krazy Karl Koxinga.

Not as bad as Krazy Karl Koxinga88.

Oh yeah, don’t we have (or used to have) a poster with “88” in his handle, and he swore up and down it had nothing to do with the 8th letter of the alphabet?

Huerta88. Last active a few days ago.

I just gave my explanation here: http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showpost.php?p=14104156&postcount=211

I don’t get it. Huerta88 = HuertaHH. What’s the significance?

88 is often used in neo-Nazi circles to stand for H.H., or Heil Hitler.

You choose “Rally” because it rhymed with “Raleigh”.
Um, o.k.

are you implying that he’s lying?

Nope. I’m implying that he never took poetry in school.

Um, o.k.

Wow that’s spooky. I was thinking of going with KKK88 for a bit before I changed my mind.

Some people maintain that Sir Walter pronounced his last name “Rally.” Just sayin’…

Also that he pronounced his first name “Water.” So I guess he’d come up to you, stick out his hand, and sound like he was advertising a boating event.

Legend has it that Rolla, MO was named after Sir Walter, or at least the city in NC that’s named after him.

I thought the MO town was named after the NC town.
