How do you figure? Every President who won reelection in the last 40 years had approval ratings below 50% in the year prior to the election; that’s pretty rock solid.
So, in 2010 will the winning side gloat comparably? And in 2012? And in 2014?
Man, it’s hard to find anything to like in this thread. On one hand, Dio is absolutely a ridiculously hard head who will argue something to death long after it’s clear that he’s wrong, or just admit some token wrong and attempt to claim the argument was never about that. He’s probably the worst poster on the board in that regard.
On the other hand, almost everyone bashing him is a gigantic douche and, while trying to maintain some sort of air of superiority, subscribe to the same retarded partisan mentality - probably to an even greater degree. And gloating about all the evil they now get to accomplish.
Not A+. Would not read again. Have regretted reading.
Plus, Venetian just registered today, apparently with the express purpose of bashing Diogenes with the Obama approval rating club. Something smells.
Report him or don’t. Either way, posting your suspicions is just putting out baseless accusations that are unprovable/undisprovable.
Have you stopped beating your wife and sucking off strangers for bus fare?
Again, congrats to Sen. Brown. He won fair and square and in a democracy that is a victory all by itself. Sure, rub my nose in it, rub Dio’s in it. You guys won this one, and we can pretend it matters as little as a football game. I am not yet convinced Brown is a raging asshole. Hope springs eternal.
I’m just happy for Ted Kennedy that he never got beat and that he didn’t have to live to see this.
As for rubbing noses in it. Norm Coleman was an ass of epic proportions and he was beaten by Al Fuckin’ Franken, which is even worse for Republicans than having to say “Sen. Hillary Clinton.”
Franken was the voice the left wing when the whole party was quiet. He wrote articulate books that beat the hell out of the weak bullshiters like O’Reilly and Limbaugh. They were epic beat downs. Maybe Franken is going to keep quiet in the Senate. Or maybe he is going to start speaking out. He is the most intelligent guy on Capitol Hill.
Agreed. It’s threads like this that are the reason we can’t have a nice Internets.
No… you just proved the point.
In what respect, may I ask?
In that pitting DTC, especially in this specific instance, doesn’t say anything at all about conservatives on this board. I took your comment as a knee jerk reaction that is typical of the vast majority of this board.
After having posted it and after reading some of your other posts this morning it seems that you are among the more reasonable. Perhaps I jerked my knee a little myself… please explain what you meant by your post ?
Airman, you are showing yourself to be a class act in this thread. Seriously, kudos to you.
**Shodan **on the other hand is showing why he is the joke of the Dope.
It’s simply a question of perpetuating the cycle. We had a whole thread about partisanship a little while ago, and I expressed my dismay about it. So, of course, the right thing to do to end the cycle (which is undoubtedly wishful thinking on my part) is of course to start a thread taunting Democrats about how their candidate lost.
Ever mindful of the fact that threads like this always turn out the way this one has, I think that it is far better to simply not say anything, and let the posts in question stand on their own merits, or lack thereof. It’s like when you know you’re right, you stop arguing and wait for the results, and later when you’re proven right you don’t say anything. Everybody knows what happened, but you’re not that guy.
You know that guy, the guy that rubs your nose in it. Everybody knows a guy like that, and they hate him. What’s your natural reaction to taunting? You get defensive. Well, sure as the sun rose this morning we had people in here doing the same old thing. It’s frustrating, and it doesn’t have to be like this.
Thanks for taking the time to explain yourself… you’re clearly one of the good guys.
Maybe there should be an Anti-Pit section for praising posters?![]()
We’ve got one. It’s just very, very small.
Of course, this is complete bullshit.
While I generally share your view on this matter, and have it expressed it many times in the past, there is something else going on here. Keep in mind that **Diogenes **get Pitted on a regular basis for pig headedness. Note that this isn’t about rubbing Dems’ noses in it, it’s rubbing Diogenes’s nose in it.
You didn’t participate in the thread that spawned this one (I was the OP), and I found myself having to ask him to start another thread for hijacking it into some ridiculous debate about emergency care for rape victims.
I’ll happily agree that Dio isn’t representative of your average voter in Massacchusetts (or however many double letters the damned state has). For that matter, given how very far left I am, neither am I. However, the Democratic Party is not liberal by the standards of a lot of our peer nations.
Pretty sure you have an entire thread of that. Where was it? Oh yes, right here. Once the question has been asked, do you really need fifty people parroting it to bump their post counts instead of just waiting for the answer?
Are you skimming the thread or being willfully obtuse to give yourself an excuse to whine? There are plenty of people in this thread who aren’t Republicans (including people like me, who think that even the Democrats are way too right of center).
What, at the same time? You have to admit, that would be kind of impressive.
This thread has nothing to do with taunting Democrats about losing an election, and everything to do with taunting **Dio **for his recent trend of being absolutely 100% dead-certain sure about things, right up until the second where he’s proven incontrovertably wrong, at which point he furiously backpedals and never really cared. There are plenty of current discussions where the answer won’t be as obvious and objective as election counts, so this is perhaps a rare opportunity for a teaching (or, let’s be honest, since Dio probably won’t learn anything, mocking) moment.
Link, please?
What? I said almost. ALMOST!
dodges Dio style!
But given who’s doing the taunting, it’s a reasonable conclusion that Shodan is thumbing his nose at Dems and/or liberals at the same time.
