Even if you don’t take into account the Iraq war, you have to remember that, even without a Labour government, we in the UK are significantly to the left politically of the US and that France and the rest of western Europe are even further to the left of us. The prospect of another four years of the so-called “leader of the free world” being that right-wing is pretty scary.

But as to this incident making us think you lot are nuts I’d have to disagree. We’ve thought that for a while now but in a good way. Alas that is changing somewhat due to silly ignorant feelings of some sort of superiority from some sections of European thinking.
Feelings are somewhat harder against a lot of American thinking but then again a lot of you folks over there don’t seem to hold us in high regard either.

Let me take a run at this. See, the thing is that this administration is actively hostile to the values that many of us hold. To be blunt, a lot of us feel that we are under attack and living in a hostile environment. We are scared and don’t know what to do. We pretty much just want to live out our lives in peace, and don’t understand why it is that steps are being taken to prevent that.
To be honest, I am getting pretty fucking tired of this being dismissed and “whineing”. Frankly, being so insensitive to the very real concerns and beliefs of close to half of your countrymen is unseemly and rude.
I’ve not met anyone here in London who’s pleased Bush was re-elected. Most, however, can see that the alternative wasn’t exactly stellar. No-one’s particularly surprised.
That said, the Mirror is a godawful pile of shite not fit for wrapping fish and chips. The best thing I can say of it is that if I were given the choice of reading the Mirror or the Daily Mail, I would beat myself to death with the Mirror to avoid reading either.
