Ruby Goes Postal...film at 11

I have asbsolutely fucking had it up to here…

On JUNE 26th a freak thunderstorm dumped 8" of rain on my neighborhood. A small creek at the back of our property overflowed. About a bajillion gallons of muddy water was running through my house. Not one square inch of our entire house was saved from the mud/water.

We haven’t been able to live in the house since then. We’ve been living in a hotel room, eating out, sneaking the dog in and out because of their fucking No Pets Policy, and slowly going broke ever since.

We are rapidly approaching AUGUST 26th and we are still not even close to moving back in. Arrrrrrrggghhh!

The house is an empty shell. All of the carpets were destroyed, 2’ of drywall along the bottom of every fucking wall had to be removed, and all of the cabinets had to be pulled out and taken to a cabinet maker because of mold. The initial estimate to repair was over $50,000 and it’s likely to be more like $60,000 before they’re done.

The whole repair process has been excruciatingly slow and I’m simply fed up. I called the contractor and let him have it and all I got was blah blah blah. Unfortunately, to fire him at this stage would take even more time. So I’m stuck. And pissed off.

I.
Want.
My.
House.
Back.

Excuse me while I go cry again…

Damn. I thought this was gonna be a Lee Harvey Oswald rant.

Anyway, as one who’s been there, allow me to express my condolences.

So, do you think you registered in haste?

I’m not trying to make fun of your situation. I can’t imagine what you’re going through. My best wishes.

Thanks, samclem, I stand corrected.

I’ll change it back IF I ever get to live in Nirvana again…

Are you in Dresden or Cesky Krumlov?

Empathy to you, wherever you are.

One imagines she must be in Texas, since they are the only folks getting rain these days.

Kicks dusty front yard

cough cough grumble

spit "Act local, think global. " Or something like that.

Sorry, I didn’t understand Violet’s post.

No, “Nirvana” used to be in Northern Indiana. This was a freak thunderstorm that dumped just on my neighborhood. Even across town it only sprinkled.

I guess having a “hissy fit” with the contractor Friday may have done some good. I’ve actually got drywall on the walls that should be ready to paint/wallpaper by early next week. Cabinets will be done by the end of the week and carpet has been ordered.

No more tears…
