Ruining Social Security, The High Life Way

If I’m not mistaken, I just heard the same voice-over guy that does the Miller High Life commercials on a stupid partisan Social Security ad.
If you haven’t seen it, the ad praises President Bush’s plan for saving Social Security, and then asks with a clever stopwatch what the Democrats have come up with to save it. Oh fuck, 10 seconds are up. I guess we have to go with Bush’s plan. Because Social Security is broken and will bankrupt the US economy within the year.
I don’t want this to turn into a Social Security debate, I was just noting that it’s a stupid partisan commercial.
Isn’t there something in this guy’s contract with Miller that he since he represents Miller, he can’t do stupid bullshit? Is no one at Miller keeping an eye on this? Maybe he’s done with the campaign and is just moving on to another job, maybe it’s a different guy, maybe I shouldn’t be drinking crappy beer in the first place, but no more Miller for me. It’s not much of a sacrifice as I’m not much of a beer enthusiast, but I will be avoiding Miller in the future.

  1. Miller is a good beer. Your boycott just means more for me, and cheaper.
  2. He’s a voice actor. He would be stupid to sign a contract that limited him to just a few beer commercials a year and nothing else.
  3. Hate the message, not the messenger.
  1. No real argument there.
  2. The contract doesn’t have to ban all other jobs, just highly inflammatory and partisan ones. Like this one.
  3. I “hate” the message that Miller is sending, that it doesn’t care what a representative of their company says.

In the case of the Social Security commercial, the voice actor is not speaking on behalf of Miller Brewing Company, so Miller has no say at all, nor should any connection to be inferred. He isn’t so much a representative or employee of the company as he is a compensated spokesman.

Hell, it may not even be the same guy, just someone who sounds very similar.

Wow, I wasn’t even aware that anyone even considered Miller a beer, let alone a good one.

Ah, yes, the requisite beer snob.

The Miler guy can work for whoever he wants to. I can not drink Miller beer. Which sucks, anyway, so it’s win win win from my POV.
