Rules of Raquetball

I haven’t played raquetball for years, but I stated again this week. Unfortunately, I forgot a lot of the rules.

Does the serve have to land past the rear SOLID line? Or that dashed line? And it can’t hit a wall first, right?

Can I serve anywhere in that box? What are the two smaller boxes on the left and right of the long rectangle for?

What if my opponent returned a serve and the ball hit the front wall then the rear, then bounced off the floor, then made it to the front wall again… can I play it? It only hit the ground once. Or is it his serve now?

Any other random rules would be nice too I guess.

Maybe this page at the USRA site can help…

Can anyone who has played both games point out a few of the significant differences between racketball and squash? Does being a competent player at one make you competent at the other?

Past the rear solid line. The ball can’t hit the walls or ceiling during a serve before touching the floor past the service line. From then on it’s your opponent’s chance to return although your opponent can return the ball without letting it touch the floor first especially if it will be difficult to get in front of the ball or if it looks as if it will die in the corner. The 2 small boxes are when you are playing doubles. Your partner stands in one while you serve, preferably the furthest away from you.

Yes, you can play the ball when it hits the front wall, back wall, floor, then front wall again. If you don’t, it’s your opponents point and serve.
