Is there a general thread that just kind of gives a bit of gen info on each sub? Like not in each place but a general index thread of what is what? I’ve taken my spankings for my mistakes and feel I don’t want it to happen again and it would be great if there was a clear index on what is what. If that’s not possible I guess I will just lurk and read until I understand things a little better.
Moved from the BBQ Pit to About This Message Board.
Descriptions of each forum can be found on the main page of the site.

That’s probably a very good idea.
Index page. One or two line description of each forum.
Otherwise, lurk a bit to get a feel of the atmosphere of each forum.
I recommend checking out the stickies and FAQs too. I personally found them to be very helpful in finding the feel of the place.
Did you read the stickies in the various forums? If not, then I suggest this:
Hi Jlynn,
As a fellow newbie, good advice above, just go with being a voyeur, you will pick up the nuance of each forum, *Bonus, you can tell the clever from the wackos, which is helpful when you start talking
It’s the clever wackos you have to look out for.
How’s this?
General Questions: What office did Alexander Hamilton hold?
Great Debates: Resolved: Alexander Hamilton was wrong in defending the federal bank
Cafe Society: Are there any hip-hop songs about Alexander Hamilton? (Yes!)
IMHO: I think Alexander Hamilton was brilliant and my GF disagrees. Should I break up with her?
MPSIMS: I just named my new kitty Alexander Hamilton
BBQ Pit: F*** you, Aaron Burr, for killing Alexander Hamilton! (RO)
ATMB: Why was my thread “I want to have Alxeander Hamilton’s love child” closed?
Game Room: Any Alexander Hamilton FPS games?
And the voyeurs.
Shouldn’t that be [GAME] Any Alexander Hamilton FPS games?
No, that would be:
[Game] Talk to me using only the letters in Alexander Hamilton’s name.

Adding to this:
General Questions: Answers should when applicable contain a reputable cite. (This goes for some of the other forums at times, but GQ in particular.)
Posts about member’s [del]pussies[/del] kitties must include at least one photo of said feline.
RO = Recreational Outrage.
Reading the stickies and spending more time lurking than posting for a while is a good idea for any newbie.

Eleven replies to a new poster and no one’s mentioned the squid?
Because that is soooo 2004? Along with “Hi Opal.” That schtick is done and gone.
Just because Opalnis gone doesn’t mean that she’s done and gone. Respect…respect.
Sorry, I didn’t mean that Opal should be forgotten. Just the saying itself seems a bit outdated now. Or perhaps not, to you old timers?
Opal who?
How quickly we forget! ![]()
He didn’t say Opal, just the catch phrase that she found annoying.
I’ve always failed to see how repeating a phrase originally intended to make fun of Opal and which she disliked indicates respect.
I’m extremely doubtful she disliked it. I had a run of shirts made up with ‘3. Hi, Opal!’ on them and she squeed like a kitten with a new saucer of milk when she saw them and made sure to give them out.
That, and she fell asleep in my lap once. And she took my speakers (with my permission). Never forget.
