I refuse to believe I have to explain this to you.
Still doesn’t make it a concession to the Democrats. A concession is something you do not want but are willing to give to your opponent so that they will give you something you want. You can’t take something you want and try to call that a concession to the other side. That is insanity.
I can’t make you believe me, but no, I’d be very, very strongly against that.
And so would a lot of Dems, I assume. The fact that so many Republicans are cheering this sickens me.
Funny you use the number 30 – there’s only 30 or so Tea Party members in the House who are blocking a vote on ending the government shutdown. Explain to me why 30 members of the House get to dictate if 800,000 workers get to show up for their job.
I was referring to 30 Senators.
Sanity outbreak reported, preliminary details sketchy.

Yes. I’m talking about 30 Tea Party members who are apparently the only ones who support Boehner’s shutdown strategy. I was pretty clear about that in my last post.
And I don’t see how one is relevant to the other.
Honestly, I don’t believe it. Boehner has said nice things and promised to work with Democrats before. It’s lucy and charlie with the football all over again.
Sanity outbreak indeed.
You’re right. You don’t.
That is entirely possible. Also possible is that he meant every word, but hasn’t the guts to back it up. There is nothing about this situation that is too weird to be true. Alas.
The government is shut down. It’s in all the papers, and the title of this thread. You say that 30 Democratic senators support changing a law that has nothing to do with the operation of government; yet ignore the fact that it is only because a small minority of House Republicans that the government is actually shut down.
You should reconcile why such a tiny minority of the House of Representatives gets to dictate what happens to 800,000 workers and the Americans who benefit from their work.
Fool me once, shame on you.
Fool me twice, shame on me.
…
Fool me 3,891 times, I must be a Democrat.
I cited that in response to a demand to show that most Democrats supported repealing that tax. If you have a problem with that, ask the poster who wanted the cite.
So you have no defense for a tiny minority of Congress closing government?
I accept your apology.
Showing that 30 people support something is not showing that most of anything supports anything. How is ‘most Democrats’ the same as 30 people? Do you think there are only 59 Democrats in the entire country, therefore 30 of them equals ‘most’? You sure have an odd way of defining the word most.
Also, and again, that does not make it a concession even if it were true. *You cannot take something that YOU want and offer it to the other side as a concession. A concession is something you DO NOT want in exchange for something that you do. This is not that complicated.
If you would like to ask that question, go ahead. But don’t do it in response to a completely unrelated post.
30 random people - no. 30+ Democrat Senators out of the total of less than 60? Yes.
They backed themselves into this corner. Now they want to act like rabid raccoons because they don’t like where they put themselves and you are defending this behavior? If anyone is to blame for backing them into this corner its themselves for listening to Ted Cruz. The Democrats just sat back and watched while the Republicans screwed themselves and you want to blame them? There were plenty of Republicans predicting that exactly this would happen leading up to this, but somehow this is the Democrats fault? Madness.
answer the rest of my post please.
I’ll state the point you’ve dodged twice a third time in the hopes that you might actually answer this time:
“Also, and again, that does not make it a concession even if it were true. *You cannot take something that YOU want and offer it to the other side as a concession. A concession is something you DO NOT want in exchange for something that you do. This is not that complicated.”
