Running digital distribution game sale/special thread

Arkham Asylum is really tempting at that price; I loved the demo. But the only real game time I have coming up is next weekend, when I’ll have my wisdom teeth out and will be hopped up on painkillers; I can’t see how that could possibly end well.

They’re doing EA week on steam, so every day different EA games will be on sale. I won’t be updating the thread daily so if there are any EA games you’re interested in, check steam every day.

Today is Crysis ($15), Crysis Warhead ($10) or both for $20.

They already leaked the list.

Tuesday: Battlefield
Wednesday: C&C
Thursday: Racing Day
Friday: Dead Space, Mirror’s Edge, Spore
Saturday: Mass Effect
Sunday: Dragon Age

The superb Deus Ex, and the reportedly inferior sequel, are each available on Steam for $2.50. I just picked them both up: the sequel can be lousy for two fifty.

Only still on sale for another 3 hours, so grab it quick. It’s old (10 years) but one of the classics, worth $2.50 easily.

It looks like they released counterstrike source for Mac and it’s on sale for $7 for all platforms. I think I may take up CS a bit again just to have the satisfaction of smashing mac users. I just wish they were labelled in some way.

They’re working on a beta that adds a tf-2 style domination system, achievements, detailed player stats like l4d, and some other stuff. That should breathe some life into the game - although I’m not sure it needs it since for some reason it’s insanely popular still with like 150,000 people playing at one time regularly.

Edit: Oh, looks like it’s not a beta anymore and that’s part of the game. Jut got updated like an hour ago.

Oh dear god steam is having a massive summer sale apparently, like the christmas sales. In fact it’s so big I’m going to go ahead and create a seperate thread about it for people who maybe don’t keep up to date on this thread - plus it’ll generate so much discussion on its own.

Steam is having a free weekend for serious sam 2nd edition HD - except it’s retardedly crippled. Usually these steam free weekends give you full access to the game, but this only lets you play the versus (deathmatch, capture the flag, etc) multiplayer modes. Which is especially stupid, because it’s a really terrible deathmatch game with bad net code. I’m told the single player/coop is fun, but I’ll never find out the way they chose to do this one. Anyway, it’s half off ($10) for the duration of the weekend.

All the penumbra (horror) games are $5 on D2D. Witcher Enhanced edition is on there too for $10.

Gamersgate.com seems to have a lot of stuff on sale. I’ve never used them. Anyone have any experience?

Btw you can use this site to get a comprehensive listing of these sales - I’m only pointing out the ones that stand out to me as notable but there’s often too much stuff to mention. Notice the D2D/GamersGate/EA/Impulse tab, they list all the major D2D services too.

I’ve used GamersGate a lot. Pretty good success. One game just wouldn’t install correctly on my machine and they refunded my money after going through various attempts at fixes. Also needed to let them know that they didn’t have the digital distribution patch for one game. They were pretty prompt. Other than that, the 6 or 7 other things I’ve ordered from them have been easy. And they do have really good deals from time to time.

They fixed the Serious Sam free weekend thing. I’m not sure if they got the demo version switched turned on or something or what, but you can play more game modes now.

Steam is having a sale on Paradox published games which are all 50% off. The EU series, the HOI series, sword of the stars, and various others.

I hear good things about Mount and Blade and I’m a big fan of Lead and Goldwhich is a casualish 3rd person old west team/class/objective based shooter for $7.50.

Thanks for the heads up! Well, my geeky gamer thanks you – my bank account does not. (Picked up Mount and Blade + XP, Sword of the Stars Collection, and PB Winterbottom; while I was browsing I also discovered the complete Morrowind+Oblivion pack and the complete Fallout 3 pack, all of which I previously owned but cannot find – plus Valve modified the Steam executables specifically to work with the modding community’s addons = <3).

They made a Lead and Gold 4 pack for $22.50, about $5.60 each, on sale till tomorrow. I bought it for 4 more friends.

You can get all id and Bethesda games on sale this week on steam. I’m late, they’ve already done even deeper discounted daily sales earlier this week. You can get the whole pack for $70, which is a lot of games, but I can’t recommend it since I hate id games.

Today only is the fallout 3 game of the year edition (all DLC) for $25 on steam.

Odd, those are all listed as Windows-only, but I know for a fact that at least some of them already have Mac versions. I can see Valve not wanting to do the porting themselves, but when a port already exists, why not make it available?

Thanks for the heads-up. I haven’t played Fallout 3 yet, and I was wavering on whether or not to buy it at $50, but $25 is totally worth it.

don’t forget to stop by http://www.fallout3nexus.com/ before you start to play. there might be a mod or two that might make the game more enjoyable for you.

Steam has all Borderlands DLC and the game for 66% off.

The Dogfighter indie game released a few months back is on sale. I originally didn’t buy it because of lack of dedi server and joystick support, but apparently they just added both in, and it’s 50% off. The trailer makes it look fun - very arcadey shoot em up 3d multiplayer combat - so I’ll probably grab it. Anyone want to go in on a 4 pack for $6 each? Hit me up on steam.

The odd little indie game Plain Sight is on sale on steam for $2. Hard to describe. Here’s some gameplay footage. I went ahead and bought it since I’ll buy pretty much anything for $2. Maybe we can play together.

Steam has Mount & Blade at 75% off and Warband at 66% off for the weekend.
