Command and Conquer titles are 75% off this weekend on Steam. Each game is $5-$7.50.
Also this weekend on GOG.com, the following (already cheap) titles are 40% off:
Stronghold
Stronghold Crusader
Postal
Postal 2
The Incredible Machine Mega Pack
Arx Fatalis
There’s a ubisoft 4 pack on steam this weekend - assassin’s creed director’s cut, call of juarez - bound in blood, far cry 2: fortune’s edition, and rainbow 6 vegas all for $13.
Not too interested in any of those games (although coop in call of juarez might be good) but at $3.25 a pop I think I’ll have to grab it.
Correction, that’s Rainbow 6 Vegas 2, not the first one. Not that it really matters too much I suspect. It does have good coop support apparently as does call of juarez, and I grabbed the pack, so tell me if you want to do coop stuff sometime.
Correction, Call of Juarez doesn’t have coop even though the whole game looks like it’s specifically designed around coop.
So the game is designed to be done by having two players cooperating, yet does not feature coop. Lame. Rainbow 6 has good coop at least from what I hear. Probably still worth getting the pack at $3/game though.
R6V2 is great fun coop, especially if you’re in the same room or can voice chat to coordinate tactics. It’s a blast doing double entries when one person flashbangs a room and the other appears through a window and kills everyone who’s distracted.
Steam has a total war collection for $65 including Shogun 2, so if you were thinking of getting that, for an extra $15 you get Empire, Medieval 2, Napoleon, and Rome.
Empire alone is 75% off for $7.50. Pretty good game, worth it if you like total war games.
“Crasher” which is some sort of vehicle combat game is $5.
Wings of Prey, which is a dumbed down version of IL2, is $15, but I’d just grab IL2:1946.
Dogfighter is on steam for $2.50. Never got around to playing it much but it feels like a fun little dogfighter arena game. I had planned to host SDMB games but it was on sale at a time when we got a few other games cheap too and mostly played those instead. There’s a demo if you want to try it.
It looks like they’ve updated the game quite a bit since then and improved, so let’s give it a try sometime.
Monday Night Combat is also having a free weekend on steam (meaning you can install and play the game with no restrictions) and also 1/3rd off for $10. It’s a pretty good game, like TF2 meets DOTA, worth a try anyway.
The winter voices series is 50% off - some adventure game, not familiar with it. The Victoria series of games is at various discounts. Oddworld games are 50% off.
Trine is 75% off on D2D for $5, I always recommend that one. Shadowgrounds from the same company is $2.50 on gamersgate. It’s fun if you like the old style top down arcade shooters. Vegas: Make It Big, which is a decent tycoon style game, is $2.50 on GG.
There’s actually quite a lot on gamersgate. There’s usually way too much stuff for me to list, so I generally only post the stuff I know anything aobut. You can always checkthis list for a lot of sales on the major sites.
On steam Batman: Arkham Asylum is on sale for $7.50. It’s a really good game. NWN 2 platinum is $10. Not such a good game. The Gothic series is 75% off. The Witcher (which I hear is good) is $10. The ghostbusters game is $10 but I’ve seen it cheaper.
There’s a Lead and Gold free weekend on steam accompanied by a 75% off ($2.50) sale. I like the game a lot - it didn’t grow like it should’ve because it had bugs early on, particularly server issues, but seems pretty good now. They added a new map and some more fixes in the latest patch. I highly recommend it for $2.50, but if you want to give it a spin yourself it’s free to play until Sunday at 1pm pst.
F1 2010 is 50% off ($20).
Dirt 2 is $5 on direct2drive, I always recommend that highly even if you’re not a big fan of racing games since it’s so awesome you’ll like it anyway, or you’re a bad person. Test Drive Unlimited is $5 there too.
There’s a one day sale on impulse for Need for speed: Hot pursuit for $15. I may grab it if some of my friends do. There’s also the Dragon Age ultimate edition for $25, not sure on the sale length
Steam has COD: Black Ops for $45. I don’t recommend it at that price but the way activision runs sales it’s very unlikely you’ll see it again for that price or any cheaper until at least Christmas, and even that’s a maybe, so if you’ve been wanting it that’s probably a good deal.
The sega collections on steam featuring old sega games are 50-67% off.
It’s on D2D this weekend for $7.50. D2D also has a marchmadness coupon code that takes 20% off any game, including preorders. Not sure if it stacks with other discounts. Edit: Says “can’t be combined with other offers” so I guess not. Still, if you were going to preorder a game or something at full price, 20% off is a pretty decent deal.
D2D has a sale on racing games actually. Highly recommend dirt 2 for $5. NFS HP for $15, blur $10, split/second $7.50, TDU $5, NFS shift and grid $10. Anyone know if blur or split/second is good?
Hmm, I guess you can combine the discounts with the 20% discount code (MARCHMADNESS) making hot pursuit $12, dirt 2 $4, etc. I know a few of us are grabbing hot pursuit at that price and we still play dirt 2 together sometime so join us.
D2D has been a minor pain in the ass with requiring some sort of authentication for some of the new customers. You don’t actually have to do anything - you just get an e-mail saying a customer service rep has to look over your account before you do anything, and a few hours later you can buy it. But if you don’t want to deal with D2D for whatever reason, Hot Pursuit is on the EA Store for $15, only $3 more. A bunch of us got it and we’ll be playing it tomorrow afternoon - contact me if you end up buying it and want to play.
