Running digital distribution game sale/special thread

In some other forums I browse base around finding online deals, people basically brag about how they ripped off a bunch of indie devs and charities. HAHHAHA I GOT 5 GAMES FOR A PENNY HAHAHAHAHHA.

Makes me want to hit them with a jeep.

Wow, that was quite a typo. Not sure how I managed that.

Edit: Oh, and some of them are worse than that - they buy up the game codes for a penny (or I think the actual minimum price now may be a dollar because the transaction fees on penny purchases actually lose money), then they come out a few months later saying I HAVE CD KEYS FOR TRINE/ETC. LOOKING TO TRADE!!! trying to get something of value.

Disgusting.

Thanks for the advice…I’ll grab a gamepad controller.

Civ V today for $30, twenty off normal price. Pretty decent deal.

Yeah, Civ 5 plus all the DLCs 40% off.

Are any of the DLCs worth it? Adds civilizations and maps/scenarios, right?

Impulse has Mount & Blade: Warband for $6 for today only. I recommend it. You form a war party, run around recruiting troops and raiding villages or fighting for land owners and what have you… you get to hit people in the face with a spear a lot.

Steam is doing rock star games this weekend, different games every day - right now is Bully and the Max Payne games but it’ll probably switch in an hour or two.

Non-digital, but you can preorder portal on Amazon for $35.

GamersGate has Metro 2033 either today only or this weekend for $5. It’s steamworks so you can activate it on steam. They also have Gratuitous Space Battles and Torchlight for $5 each.

D2D has a promo code “bunny” that takes 25% off all games $20 or above. Good if you want to preorder something. They also have Civ 5 for $30 today only, and you can get the 25% off that making it $22.50.

And… this isn’t what I normally post about in this thread, but there’s an [=variationtype.game.iphone"]EA Games Iphone sale](Latest Games - Official EA Site[) with their mostly high quality iphone/ipad games at $1 each.

D2D has the BFBC2 - Vetnam expansion for $7.50. You can plug the key they give you into the steam version or any other version.

Indie game Mount & Blade: Warband is six bucks (80% off) on Steam today as part of a promotion for the run-up to the release of With Fire and Sword. I’ve logged about 173 hours between vanilla and Warband, so I think six bucks is a decent value. Vanilla is four dollars, but I strongly advise against getting vanilla; you don’t get anything in vanilla that isn’t in Warband, and it’s not really worth downgrading to save two bucks. There’s also a demo.

Yeah, I highly recommend M&B: Warband, it’s fun stabbing people in the face in various ways. The campaign mode is reasonably open ended and sandboxy too. And the multiplayer battles can be huge and epic - I’ve played some 200vs200 castle sieges and stuff. Warband is definitely worth the $2 over regular M&B - it includes everything M&B has, just better. You don’t need both.

If we get enough people to get the game, we could have 10 on 10 type skirmishes which would be awesome.

In a weird sale, D2D packaged together a Brink Preorder and Fallout New Vegas for $65. If you were going to order brink anyway, might as well snag New Vegas for $15.

Sol Survivor is $5 on steam, I’ve heard it’s a decent tower defense, never played it.

Arsenal of Democracy based on Hearts of Iron 2 is $4.50 on Impulse.

Tropico 3 is $5 on gamersgate.

I got this in a 4 pack with some other people. It seems pretty bland so far. TD with no mazing but you have a more active role in your defence (you can fire a few attacks yourself instead of being all tower power). So if you want a TD where you have a bigger role it’s not bad. If you like mazing it’s not a good buy.

I still prefer Defense Grid I’ll update if my opinion takes a radical shift when I get deeper into it.

Preorders of Fire & Sword are 10% off and will grant hats in TF2.

EA week on steam, with different sales every day.

Today is Dragon Age day, with DAO:Ultimate Edition with expansion and all DLCs for $20. Regular DAO is $15. Awakening expansion is $15. Dragon Age 2 is $45 (25%) off.

The only thing I recommend buying in that pack is the ultimate edition with everything for $20. If you need any of the other components you might as well just buy the ultimate and get everything at once. Dragon Age 2 probably isn’t worth $45. But I strongly recommend DAO Ultimate if you don’t have it. I’m thinking of rebuying it on steam myself since I have it elsewhere without the DLC and the dlc itself probably adds up to more than the $20 cost.

You can still snag warband for $6, not sure for how long.

Anyway, check steam every day if you’re interested in EA games, I may not post what each day’s sale is.

Day 2 of the EA sale on steam is need for speed day. Hot Pursuit is $15, Shift is $6.80, and Undercover is $2.50.

I like Hot Pursuit and we play it together a decent bit, but that’ll probably only last a few weeks until Dirt 3 comes out. Still, if you get it, make sure you add me on steam and tell me and I’ll include you in our games. Also good to get all of us on your in-game friends list so you can see our times as you complete the game in single player.

If you’re one of the few gamers in the world who still doesn’t have Plants vs Zombies in any form, it’s $3.40 right now on Steam. You also get some nice TF2 hats with it, if you care about that.

Battlefield (and medal of honor) day on the EA steam sale week - last day. BFBC2 for $7 is a steal and Vietnam is half off too. The new MOH is supposed to be crappy but Airborne is supposed to be decent. Battlefield 2 complete for $5 too.

M&B: Warband is $6 on D2D if you didn’t pick it up on steam. Really good game.

I read the reviews of the new MoH, so I waited for it to go on sale. For $15 it’s gotta be worth it, right?

I’m only an hour into the single-player and I’m already bored. On normal difficulty I haven’t died once, and in fact haven’t even felt challenged once. And I’m not some teenager hopped up on Mountain Dew - I’m a guy who can only squeeze in a few hours a week for gaming, so I imagine the better FPSers among us will be even more bored.

If you haven’t played MoH:Airborne, get that. It’s a much better game for less money. It’s set in WWII, but you parachute in to all of your objectives and how well (or poorly) you choose your landing site directly impacts the ensuing fight.

The older game lets you have more freedom and try different ways of attacking a problem, whereas the new one is an on-rails shooter.

And even if you don’t want to play online, Battlefield Bad Company 2 has a single-player campaign that is more than worth $7.

Overall I liked the Bad Company (1) single-player better, but BC2 was a lot of fun too. Especially for that price it’s a great deal for military FPS gamers.

I’ve been playing it a lot on multiplayer, they have a good perk system for playing your class and/or helping your team. You get points for healing teammates, supplying them with ammo, kill assists (for enemies you injure but don’t kill, story of my life), and even for spotting enemies that your teammates later kill.

There is a progression of new weapons and perks you can earn for each class. Also the building destruction is pretty awesome. You can blow holes in buildings with grenades, artillery, tank shells, etc. And you can shoot up wood and corrugated sheet metal with small arms.

Duke Nukem Forever is now available for preorder on Steam.

I saw that yesterday. Pardon my :rolleyes::rolleyes:
