You don’t have to know the word to understand the concept — but it would be fair to think that most right-wing Christian Americans have never heard of the LRA, either. (A fact that Limbaugh relied on —but I don’t think he’s likely to convince much of anyone of anything by referring to an issue that they’ve never heard of and don’t care about.) And whether the LRA is heterodox is irrelevant to the point of whether your mainstream American Christian would think of the LRA as heterodox (again, since people tend to understand the concept, even if they don’t understand the name.)
(None of which has a damned thing to do with Qin’s “Satan-inspired” comment; I don’t think many Christians who believe in Satan would say that he never influences Christians. “Un-Christian” and “Satan-inspired” are not synonyms, so Qin was not making a no-true-Scotsman argument.)
