Missouri House GOP members managed to induct Limbaugh, apparently with nobody being aware of it until it was time. Needless to say, Democrats are in somewhat of a furor.
While you may argue that Limbaugh is indeed famous, consider who he is in company with now. From the story:
As a member of the Hall of Famous Missourians, Limbaugh will have a bronze bust displayed in the Capitol alongside the likes of President Harry Truman, Mark Twain, Walt Disney, George Washington Carver and Stan Musial.
Coming this close on the heels of his most recent foot-in-mouth scandal, I can only imagine that this will hurt the Republicans who were behind it. Then again, depending on their district, they may get their own busts installed at the county courthouse.
Is that why they call Missouri the “Blow Me State”?
Is this really an Elections-thread topic?
I wondered as well, but it meets the criteria in the description:
Elections
For discussion of elections and electoral politics, including strategy and tactics, political parties, individual races, political news, and politicians and public figures.
But it would be so much more fun as a Pit thread!
You know, I considered that as well…
And you’re absolutely right. Mod? Forum change, pleezie?
Per user request:
Off to the Pit.

I was all set to be outraged, and then I figured, “Hey, there’s really no difference between Limbaugh being inducted into his native state’s Hall of Fame and, say…PT Barnum doing so.” And so I looked up Barnum, who apparently grew up in Connecticut. So I then looked up Connecticut’s Hall of Fame. Know who was inducted into their inaugural class? Mark Fucking Twain . I figure with other states trying to poach Missouri’s native born sons, it best hold onto the ones no one else wants.

get a grip. It’s a state HOF. for people from the state. He’s famous. Get over it.
oh, and if the GOP was able to slip this one by the democrats, maybe they could try slipping a budget by them, too.
Actually, if you are that outraged, you should vote out the dems that permitted this atrocity to happen!
Who’s paying for this bronze bust?
That’s what she said.
And by “she” I mean the underage Dominican trafficking victim that Rush bought just before the last time he was arrested on drug charges.

I don’t know if anyone has told you this before, but you’re kind of a douche.
Rush Limbaugh is indisputably famous, and he was indisputably born and raised in Missouri, so I’m not sure what the problem could possibly be.
And whatever you might think of him, he’s famous for being a successful broadcaster, not for being an axe murderer.

IIRC, he moved to Connecticut before he was 40, was neighbours with Harriet Beecher Stowe, and lived the rest of his life there.
History, bitches.
Disney was one who would not object too strongly to Rush’s company, I fear . . . if he could stomach the language . . .

“Yes, Officer, I’d like to report a stolen joke. Who’s? Well, its mine now!”
Good. Another reason to avoid bible-belting thumpers and their state of Missouri (or Missour-a).
When states decide to award Truman and a racist pill-popper on the same shelf, I welcome them to secede.
