Actually Rush has occassionally been invited to the Sunday morning talk shows, where he debated the likes of Sam and Cokie. My impression is that Rush is happy to debate political issues with anyone, but he shies away from debating when the topic is his own Pitting.
The entertainment value of Rush Limbaugh (Rush is a band, dammit!) coming here and debating would indeed be priceless. He would receive way more attention from me than his radio show and columns get. Problem is, he’d probably whine about the unfair treatment (his perception) that he would receive.
I would definitely pay close attention to it out of morbid fascination. A train wreck like that would need to be seen to be believed!
Its pretty obvious. People who get through are always dumb, and easy to defeat. You know from posting here that non-conservatives are not all that way.
So, Rush is a Nazi? Yes, I do understand hyperbole, but coming from you, who makes a point to rag on posters who Godwin out, do you want the pot or kettle?
When thoughtful conservatives, who my disagree with Rush call and take him to task about his errors or misstatements he screams “seminar caller” and cuts them off explaining how smart he is for spotting them.
Maybe he’s changed his rules since the publication of Al Franken’s book, but there’s a quote in there from a time when someone did exactly that, and Rush became absolutely furious - because the only way someone with opposing views could get on the show was by lying to the screeners. I’m skimming the book looking for that, but I haven’t found it yet. I’ll check back when I do.
He’s a quote that I did find though:
“Limbaugh knows what’s good for him. Whenever he’s ventured outside the secure bubble of his studio, the results have been disastrous. In 1990, Limbaugh got what he thought was his chance at the big time, substitute hosting Pat Sajak’s ailing CBS late night show. But the studio wasn’t packed with pre-screened dittoheads. When the audience members started attacking him for having made fun of AIDS victims, he panicked, and they had to clear the studio. A CBS executive said, “He came out full of bluster and left a very shaken man. I had had never seen a man sweat as much in my life.””
