Methinks that the OP is a little premature. A attack on an airport facility is hardly the invasion of a sovereign nation. If Russian troops enter Ukraine, then things dramatically. However, since Russia has at best a mixed history of military successes since the end of WWII if they attempt a full scale invasion, it could lead to another embarrassing failure.
Since none of the major new services are calling the events which are occurring an actual invasion, I’ll reserve judgment until it’s clear what is truly. happening,
Seeing as NONE of the cable news channels is covering this AT all but rather is covering MUCH more important issues like how to stay comfortable and not be all sweaty and stinky and sweaty and icky while celebrating Mardi Gras in New Orleans.
After the twin disasters and lost wars that were Gulf War II and Afghanistan THANKS SHRUB & ASSORTED CRONIES!!! there is no way Obama sends troops or ships or anything else to the area. There will be diplomatic posturing at best from the US.

We have no such guarantee of Ukraine. We have such guarantees for NATO countries.
Everyone knows we are not going to declare war on Russia because they invade Ukraine.

Yeah, duly noted but you didn’t answer my question. What clever chess moves has Putin displayed here? Also you should remember that Russia has it’s main pipeline to Europe through the western part of Ukraine so the south is not the sole source of Ukraine’s power/wealth.
