For the record, it is also “nichego”. The “g” turns into a “v” when spoken.
And to be more specific, “Vanya” is the diminuitive/familiar form of “Ivan,” so it is much like Johnny, but not the same. I’ve seen “Ivan” be likened to names from Ryan to John.
In makeshift-Cyrillic, nichego looks more like Hu[ch]ero. [ch] is a character closest to an upside-down-and-inverted h.
