Rutgers team response to Don Imus

Not to mention one keeps SEEING him in all the news broadcasts. Blech – he looks as if he ought to have been decently buried a decade ago.

Ooohhh! Tom’s as bad as Imus!

Or doesn’t it count if you’re calling yourself a ho?

Are you sure? This is probably the most media attention a woman’s basketball game has received in a long time.

Ha ha! I was thinking that too!

I remember last year Maryland won their women’s title… people rioted in celebration. I was thinking “Huh. I didn’t know women’s hoops garnered enough attention to incite any kind of fan response.” What, one moped was overturned by the 7 celebrants?

From what others have posted (can’t confirm since I don’t do satellite radio), Stern said he should have said, “Fuck you. It was a joke.” and moved on.

I was hoping to see a group of bright, self-assured dignified women and, for the most part, I did except for the “scarred for life” and “our victory was stolen from us” comments, and for that, I blame the coach & administrators who I am sure have been telling them for the past week how victimized they were.

And Al Sharpton can sod off.

Imus should be fired, but given one last broadcast minute in which to say, “Hello . . . Imus be going!”

(Insert your own version of smiley here.)

Yeah, so? This is America and we don’t put up with that “We’re ALL winners!” crap. Second place is the same as last place.

I would like to join the chorus expressing surprise that Don Imus is still working, though he does look as long dead as I thought his career was.

I’m just saying they made it sound like the attention from ESPN was the important thing, not their own accomplishments. It’s a shame they couldn’t get much attention without Imus or that they won’t be able to enjoy their season without thinking about this.

And Rutgers had a great tournament- they also beat Duke, which was by far the best team in the country all year.

While we’re all outraged and indignant over a few stupid remarks made by a DJ, an outrageous mis-carriage of justice has come to an end in North Carolina, where 3 men, because thay are rich and white, were nearly railroaded into jail by a publicity-seeking DA , based on the word of a black stripper with a criminal record. I don’t hear Rev. Al or Rev. Jesse talking much about this particular outrage, even though these guts’ lives have been altered for the worse forever.

Imagine if the races were reversed, though… I think we’d be talking about it, don’t you?

If the races were reversed? Why would we be talking about a bunch of convicted black rapists on death row? Nobody cares about them.

Maybe you haven’t been paying attention, but there have been multiple threads on the Duke case, one of which had record breaking post counts. The latest incarnation is currently going on in the Pit.

So if you don’t think we’re talking about it now, what exactly would satisfy your expectations?

And it is in the news. That’s why you know about it.

It’s also been on talk radio today . . . in San Francisco. I think it’s pretty well talked about. I hope that DA gets disbarred. There’s an investigation underway right now with that in mind.
