I was literally just saying the same thing. When Earnhardt crashed, my stomach dropped despite it looking like a bump. I mean, I didn’t think he’d die because it was DALE, but it being less of a visual spectacle made it seem to people that it was less serious. And iirc the last two deaths prior to his were Kenny Irwin’s and Adam Petty’s, both during practices and not The Big One superspeedway race crashes.
