OK OK I clicked the link, and got… a timeout? Oh well, after all that!

Click away. There’s rules about posting naughty links
Nope. There have probably been quite a number of posters in the past who could have inspired the new rule - I think this is just the latest to cross the “annoyance threshold” enough for the mods and admins to finally make it part of the registration agreement.
The difference being that they’re not all from the same person. At least there’s a bit of variety to it. And I think a lot of people agree with me that’s it’s inherently annoying to see the same person’s name over and over and over again on the forum page as the thread starter.
Ryan, remember this conversation?
This is what I was talking about, babe. Just breathe deep and hang onto your seat, it’ll be over soon.
And–get a Live Journal page or something, 'kay?
Now, now, do it NOW!
hee hee hee!
you know those “BuyMeaHooker”, “PayMyDebts” & “HelpMeLeaveMyHusband” websites, I vote we start a “GetRyanLiamaLJ” campaign. Afterall we all want him to get one!

Hardy! lookie, just for you, post 350!
smooooooch
Yep, it sure is.
I think Ryan is benign, but over-enthusiastic. One of his positive attributes is that he admits when he’s made a boo-boo, which is a great asset. Some of his threads are thought provoking. He’s just overly excessive. Cool down the amount of threads you start, and you’ll be fine, young Ryan.
TirBabe! You remembered! smoooooooooooch
As for the OP, I can think of a few people this new rule may have been inspired by…think twice, post once kids. Take my word for it.
:applauds:
…'cause that’s exactly what I was going to say!
Ryan, for what it’s worth I don’t want you to go away. The SDMB can be like crack, very addictive. I see you as being off at college, a little lonely and in need of some validation.
It’s a little bit like “Peter and the Wolf”. If you continue to start so many threads every day, you are not likely to be taken seriously. I think you are an intelligent person and I look forward to reading some very thoughtful posts from you in the future.
Get 'em while they’re hot.
Nope, I thought this, too.
Thanks, Kwyjibo, for starting this. I was about to make my very first Pit thread about a another poster to be about Ryan_Liam’s obsession with himself. I was getting decidedly annoyed.
Seems that would make it less annoying, since you know precisely which threads to avoid. None of this, “I wonder if this is interesting. Nope! Same old crap!” rigamorale. You can tell right from the forum page wether you want to read the thread or not. Just look for the Ryan_Liam label. I think you people are being far too harsh with the poor guy, especially considering the self esteem problems he evidently already has. I don’t have a problem with Pitting someone because they’re assholes, or jerks, or borderline trolls, but Pitting someone just because they’re annoying you is mean. Not to mention whiney.
Like we’ve never had over-enthusiastic or attention-seeking posters around here before…
Are we complaining about the amount of threads Ryan_Liam is starting, or we complaining about the fact that he doesn’t confine himself to starting them in IMHO and MPSIMS? A number of posters have pointed out to him that if you’re going to start threads in GQ and GD, you might need to wait a couple of days before the person best able to address your post is online. Perhaps the best thing we can all do is encourage him to follow more closely the forum descriptions and let him know about all the instant messaging services and IRC channels which are available if he feels the need for instant communication with the online community.
I suspect that this particular poster’s anthem is not a Red Hot Chili Peppers song.
Eh, I don’t have a dog in this fight, I just think “If you don’t like it, don’t read it!” is a poor response to a complaint about someone’s threads. If you disagree with the OP, say why.
Um, I don’t recall saying ALL of his threads were stupid. Just most of them. There were some where he has something interesting to say.
Again. See above.
I agree he has self esteem problems, but that does not make his ‘attention getting’ any less annoying…like I had told him in one of his other threads. Don’t try so hard to get attention and be yourself.
Well, ya see? That’s the thing. I already got tripped up by the “T” word, so where does that leave us?
He isn’t ‘trolling’ in the strictest definition of the word, so you can’t rightfully report a single thread because he isn’t doing anything wrong in that thread. But put all of his threads together, and it is obvious he is just trying to get attention.
And that, for lack of a better word, is annoying.
Granted, but I have been visiting the boards on a more frequent basis now that they are running better, so where as I have heard of others, I have not seen it for myself so much. This was a situation that I watched from the beginning.
My beef is with the number of threads in the short time he has been here. That and the fact that the topics on most of them are so bloody silly, to me is seems like he is racking his brains for any old question so he can post it and get noticed.
Again, I only know of two of his threads that were in the wrong place. We all slip up like that once in a while. (and with the amount of threads he made and considering the short time span, he was bound to get them wrong once in a while.)
Like Tir said, am a big teddy bear.
I’m not completely heartless. I would welcome him to LJ and chat. Gawd knows we all can get pretty silly and inane in there. That’s what it is there for.
I thought it was also inspired by the repeated time travel threads.

Well, gee, if Superman flew backwards around the world really, really fast, and made time go backwards, couldn’t we prevent the time-travel-thread posters from making those posts in the first place?
