I enjoyed it. Classic sort of Rambo or Roadhouse type movie. I thought that the shooting was done well. I liked how they worked in the other shooter. Sort of contrived how he wound up working with the FBI agent.
While Kate Mara’s transparent tank top in her first scene was rather dreamy, I was highly distracted by Danny Glover’s noticeable lisp. What’s the deal there? Did he have a stroke in real life or was this a purposeful character thing?
I’m reminded of my brother-in-law’s review of Transformers: “It was ridiculous. About halfway through it becomes kind of like a French farce, except with giant robots that kick the shit out of each other. I loved it.”
A movie just has to deliver the goods it’s supposed to deliver. “Snakes on a Plane” was a ridiculous movie, but it delivered the goods big time. You went into that movie to hoot and yell at the screen and cheer when Sam pulls out The Word. “Happy Gilmore” was stupid, but it was stupid in a lighthearted, entertaining way.
I loved “The Rock,” so I guess I have to go see “Shooter.”
